Oh good god.

Kid comes home from school today talking about stocks and his portfolio they have for the 4th graders. And he starts giving me some advice.

1.) "crApple goes up everyday, you should get some." If it starts going down you can just "download some apps" and then it will go up some "points". Get a point for every app you download, right Dad?
Yeah boy thats it! So what if it goes down? Just download apps all day long and it will go up.
Ok then! Anything else?

2.) "Yeah! Get some Google" Ok so how does that work? What if it goes down? "Well it doesn't ever go down points, just like crApple" Uhhuh you don't say? "Well sometimes it does when I first check my portfolio in class, but then I just google some things for 5 minutes and it gives me some more "points". "If I keep googling long enough it goes green." Green huh? Is that good? "Yeah Daddy, you see it goes red when people aren't googling enough, but when they start searching at lunchtime it always goes green".

Thanks bud, I think I've got it now. Anything else?

Yeah that Dow company has lots of points, it keeps giving me 100 points a day.

Isn't it nice to be oblivious.

With a rate like that I assume that you have a conforming loan, not a jumbo.

should we bookmark this post so that when it hits $700 you can publicly admit that you are - in fact - not smarter than a 4th grader.

really have to laff at you guys calling it crAPPL for hundreds of points up.

even a 4TH grader knows: THE TREND IS YOUR FRIEND

Apple has been successful by coming up with the next big thing (iPhone), or packaging current technology into a package that works (iPod), and that people want (entire product line).

Whether they can continue to do so without Jobs remains to be seen.

But I would not stand in the way of the Apple trend at the moment, you'll likely get run over. They have real revenues, real products, and all the momo the stock can handle. I wish I owned some.

Hey, am I hallucinating? Gold down and the stocks recovering!

Heinz noticed it, too.

as you pointed out the other day, charts haven't meant too much for quite a while.

absolutely.

so don't let your position influence your point of view in the short term.

have a drink and take a week off.

after all you're in it for the long macro trade right?

either you are or you're not.

all the angst in between is between you and your god.

mechanantions, interventions, free money, blah blah blah along the way.

sorry, i'm a bit jaded by all of it.. but if you thought i was sniping at the gold "community" I wasn't.

so retract the attitude. i'm not your enemy.

really... shut it all down and come back in two weeks, or six months.

unless you are on margin. if you are............. don't dare leave for a minute.

That's just awful, and points out how screwed up our healthcare system is. It's been a hot button for me for years, one reason being that as a full time trader my wife and I 'buy our own'. If we had had health issues when we moved from NY to Chicago a couple years back we would have had big problems, because under this wonderful system of ours no insurance company would have let us buy coverage - UNLESS in some cases the 'pre-existing' conditions were conveniently excluded.

Regards,
John

i believe that is correct. it is amortized over the 12 years, but we'll pay it off in 5 or 6, with no prepayment penalty (one person i spoke with told me that "they don't do that anymore").
