Again, might work for Android. Apple has cross license protection. I still can't believe the $90-100 figure, though.

I doubt it can be that high either. $30-50 I might believe.

The price of tablets and smartphones is going to nosedive at some point, and even $30 would hurt.

Splinter said Thursday that supply of 28-nm capacity is still constrained. He said the 28-nm ramp was about 50 percent faster than the previous-generation ramp to 40.45-nm. "We think [demand for] 28-nm is going to be strong through the year," Splinter said. "It's going to be strong into 2013. Assuming that our customers can find a place to put equipment, they'll continue to add equipment as quickly as they can."

That is an interesting quote coming from Splinter because it adds some validity to TSMC's claims that its 28nm demand, not yield which has been causing problems for them. Well, the sort of problems they like anyway.

AMD’s Manju Hegde on HSA

HSA incorporates critical hardware features which accomplish the following:
  1. GPU Compute C++ support: [...]
  2. HSA Memory Management Unit: This allows all system memory [to be] accessible by both CPU or GPU [...]
  3. Unified Address Space for CPU and GPU: [...]
  4. GPU uses pageable system memory via CPU pointers: [...] In all prior generations, data had to be copied between the two spaces or page-locked prior to use.
  5. Fully coherent memory between CPU & GPU: [...] In all previous generations, GPU caches had to be flushed at command buffer boundaries prior to CPU access. [...]
  6. GPU compute context switch and GPU graphics pre-emption: GPU tasks can be context switched, making the GPU in the APU a multi-tasker. [...]

A very odd statement:

Large single-crystal diamonds help create extrusions of very thin wires used in state-of-the art DRAM traces.
