i might suggest reconsidering the idea that there is a correlation between the contest results, and expertise of the participants given the construct of the rules involved.

I think it would be useful to list the ones who have won more than, say, once or twice. Would it be possible to do that? Or give the placements of the various entrants for the last, say, five contests.

Chris, if you go back and look at the results for previous years, you can get that information for yourself. There are some people who are listed more frequently than others. And one, rkrw, who has won several times in the short time the contest has been going. But check for yourself.

I've only transitioned through the top ten occassionally - I don't think I have ever ended in the top ten, and I certainly never won. THere is skill involved.

Well wading through all the posts of the various contests is not an easy job. Some give the top one or two; others mention the percentages of gain without identifying the portfolios. Then you have to hunt around to find the actual portfolios, etc., etc., etc. It would be helpful if BulbaMan or someone would put up the winners, or the top five portfolios for each contest since, say, 2007 (or has the contest been going on that long?) for those of us who do not follow every post made from the start. Sorting the wheat from the chaff is quite a job. Perhaps no one wants to do this. If not, so be it.

Thanks Robert.
I was thinking of putting up the links myself and you saved me the work.
Good Luck in 2012!

Chris: I’m currently concentrating on setting up the 2012 Contest and am a bit too busy now to post the data you suggest. But, as you may have already noticed, Robert just posted the links to the prior Contests (Post 366). If you browse through the final posts for each of the Contests, you should be able to quickly find the Contest winners.
I began doing Contest scorekeeping in 2006, so from that year on you just have to browse posts under BulbaMan.
And I’d be grateful for any data you dig up and post on this Board.
Peace & good health,
Bulba

I would call it "biotech enthusiasts". I don't think anyone here claims to be an expert.

Incidentally the BTK index was down 16% for the year.
