This stock has been overlooked IMO for a while.

AerCap is buying AIG's International Lease Finance operations. From the WSJ, "The acquisition will make AerCap the world's largest plane lessor, with roughly 1,300 planes."

"AerCap is acquiring ILFC at "a significant discount to book value" thanks partly to accounting rules applied to the deal. This, combined with AerCap's Irish tax domicile, makes the deal highly attractive. He said that after the ILFC's portfolio revaluation, older models account for only about 15% of its value. The large number of older planes in ILFC's portfolio has been one uncertainty hanging over the company."

"After the deal completion, slated for the second quarter of next year, AIG will be the single largest shareholder in AerCap, with approximately 46% of the combined company."

I'm a holder of a few shares of AerCap (AER) since June '09.

AL. Not doing well with my holding of FLY. I'll stick with it for now, but now go for a tracking position with AL.

Betting a bit on the expertise of Chair and CEO Mr. Udvar-Hazy, who did very well in starting and running a prior aircraft lease company, International Lease Finance Corp.

FLY. Decided I'll up my position at current price. Has not been as good a performer as other aircraft leasing companies I am following. Otoh, 6.8% dividend yield is highest within the group.

AER. Nice to see Pabrai Investments take a substantial position. I've added a few more shares now to my holdings.
