-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They’ve Seen the Future and Dislike the Present

By ALAN FEUER

Published: March 16, 2009

Two hours into Z-Day, the educational forum associated with the online movie “Zeitgeist,” Peter Joseph, the film’s director and the evening’s M.C., stepped out from behind his lectern and walked forward earnestly on the stage.
Peter Joseph, the director of two online “Zeitgeist” movies, was applauded after criticizing the global system of monetary finance.

Before the forum started, Jacque Fresco, 93, the futurist, talked with young admirers in the audience about his Venus Project.

In his goatee and mustache and tieless in a brown suit, Mr. Joseph had been lecturing for nearly 90 minutes on the unsustainable nature of the money-based economy — on cyclical consumption, planned obsolescence, corporate malfeasance and piles of poisonous waste. “It’s time that we wake up,” he intoned, speaking solemnly through a wireless clip-on mike. “The doomsday scenario, the big contraction, might be happening right now. The system of monetary exchange is — in the face of advancing technology — completely obsolete.”

This drew wild applause from the sold-out crowd, a patchwork of perhaps 900 people who paid $10 a head on Sunday night to sit in a packed auditorium at the Borough of Manhattan Community College on Chambers Street near the West Side Highway. Z-Day events were taking place from New England to New Zealand, but this was the big one: the marquee happening with the marquee names.

There, in the crowd, was Jacque Fresco, an industrial designer and the engineering guru of what people unironically called “the movement.” Mr. Fresco, an elfin 93-year-old, sat beside his partner, Roxanne Meadows, smiling self-effacingly.

Mr. Joseph, back on stage, waited patiently as some of the crowd, still cheering, refused to leave their feet.

If the election of Barack Obama was supposed to denote the gradual demise of churlish, corporate governance and usher in a new, sustainable era of visionary change, there was little sign of it at the second annual meeting of the Worldwide Zeitgeist Movement, which, its organizers said, held 450 sister events in 70 countries around the globe.

“The mission of the movement is the application of the scientific method for social change,” Mr. Joseph announced by way of introduction. The evening, which began at 7 with a two-hour critique of monetary economics, became by midnight a utopian presentation of a money-free and computer-driven vision of the future, a wholesale reimagination of civilization, as if Karl Marx and Carl Sagan had hired John Lennon from his “Imagine” days to do no less than redesign the underlying structures of planetary life.

In other words, a not entirely inappropriate response to the zeitgeist itself, which one young man, a philosophy student in a roomy purple blazer, described before the show began as “the world as we know it coming to an end.” As the evening labored on with a Power Point presentation, a panel talk with Mr. Fresco and a spirited question and answer session, some basic themes emerged: modern economics is a fraud; global debt will crush the planet; society itself is dying from the profit motive; and people ought to wise up to the fact that more than legislation — or presidential administrations — needs to change.

Though they were never actually shown — as most in attendance had seen them several times — Mr. Joseph’s two films, “Zeitgeist, the Movie” (released in 2007) and “Zeitgeist: Addendum” (released last fall), were the subtext of the evening: online documentaries that have been watched, he says, by 50 million people around the world.

The former may be most famous for alleging that the attacks of Sept. 11 were an “inside job” perpetrated by a power-hungry government on its witless population, a point of view that Mr. Joseph said he has recently “moved away from.” Indeed, the second film, the focus of the event, was all but empty of such conspiratorial notions, directing its rhetoric and high production values toward posing a replacement for the evils of the banking system and a perilous economy of scarcity and debt.

That’s where Mr. Fresco came in, an author, lecturer and former aircraft engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio who has spent the last six decades working on the Venus Project, a futuristic society where (adjust your seatbelts, now) machines would control government and industry and safeguard the planet’s fragile resources by means of an artificially intelligent “earthwide autonomic sensor system” — a super-brain of sorts connected to, yes, all human knowledge.

If this sounds vaguely like a disaster scenario out of “2001: A Space Odyssey,” Mr. Fresco did not seem worried in the least. Machines are unemotional and unaggressive, unlike human beings, he told the crowd during the question-and-answer phase. “If you took your laptop and smashed it in front of 50 other laptops, trust me, none of them would care.”

The audience — white, black, young, old, baseball caps and business suits alike — received such words like a tonic, and the questions kept coming: What would family life be like in the future? What would happen if the automated system decided that a person had to die? Mr. Fresco and Ms. Meadows are planning the production of a major feature film to bring the Venus Project to a wider, global audience. Before the night began, Mr. Fresco, a small man with a V-neck sweater and a hearing aid, sat signing books and answering questions from a dozen or so college students gathered like acolytes at his feet.

As the evening came to a close, someone finally asked: So what would it take to actually put such a program into action? A grassroots movement, Mr. Joseph said.
“We already have a quarter-million members,” he insisted from the stage. “At the rate things are going, this will be at Madison Square Garden next year.”

U.S. TRADEMARK APPLICATION NO. 77829193 - RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY - N/A

--------------------------------------------------------------
OFFICE ACTION

TO AVOID ABANDONMENT, THE OFFICE MUST RECEIVE A PROPER RESPONSE TO THIS OFFICE ACTION WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF THE ISSUE/MAILING DATE.

ISSUE/MAILING DATE: 1/11/2010

The assigned trademark examining attorney has reviewed the referenced application and has determined the following:

NO CONFLICTING REGISTRATIONS

The Office records have been searched and no similar registered or pending mark has been found that would bar registration under Trademark Act Section 2(d), 15 U.S.C. §1052(d). TMEP §704.02

THE DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES IS UNACCEPTABLE

The wording of the identification of services is indefinite and must be clarified because it fails to give proper notice as to the specific services for which applicant seeks its service mark. See TMEP §1402.01. Applicant must amend this wording to specify the common commercial or generic name for the services. If there is no common commercial or generic name for the services, then applicant must describe the nature of the services as well as their main purpose, channels of trade, and the intended consumer(s).

Furthermore, “Association services, namely promoting the interests of...”is meant to refer to people, groups of people, professional groups or categories, e.g., bird lovers, gynecologists, librarians, economists, social climbers, endangered novelists, Presbyterian ministers, isolationists, and the like. An “alternative social sustainability and design” would not appear to have any human physiology, anatomy or autonomous mobility, and is most likely not a human being but rather an economic model of some sort.

Applicant must amend the services description to perhaps furthering the interest of the believers, followers, or adherents who favor a resource based socio-economic design or model.

Identifications of services can be amended only to clarify or limit the services; adding to or broadening the scope of the services is not permitted. 37 C.F.R. §2.71(a); see TMEP §§1402.06 et seq., 1402.07. Therefore, applicant may not amend the identification to include services that are not within the scope of the services set forth in the present identification.

For assistance with identifying and classifying services in trademark applications, please see the online searchable Manual of Acceptable Identifications of Goods and Services at tess2.uspto.gov  See TMEP §1402.04.

THE MARK IS MERELY DESCRIPTIVE

Registration is refused because the applied-for mark merely describes a quality, characteristic, function, feature, purpose or use of the specified services. TMEP §1209.01(b); see In re Steelbuilding.com, 415 F.3d 1293, 1297, 75 USPQ2d 1420, 1421 (Fed. Cir. 2005); In re Gyulay, 820 F.2d 1216, 1217-18, 3 USPQ2d 1009, 1010 (Fed. Cir. 1987).

Descriptiveness Determined in Relation to Services

The determination of whether a mark is merely descriptive is considered in relation to the identified services, not in the abstract. In re Abcor Dev. Corp., 588 F.2d 811, 814, 200 USPQ 215, 218 (C.C.P.A. 1978); TMEP §1209.01(b); see, e.g., In re Polo Int’l Inc., 51 USPQ2d 1061 (TTAB 1999) (finding DOC in DOC-CONTROL would be understood to refer to the “documents” managed by applicant’s software, not “doctor” as shown in dictionary definition); In re Digital Research Inc., 4 USPQ2d 1242 (TTAB 1987) (finding CONCURRENT PC-DOS merely descriptive of “computer programs recorded on disk” where relevant trade used the denomination “concurrent” as a descriptor of a particular type of operating system). “Whether consumers could guess what the product is from consideration of the mark alone is not the test.” In re Am. Greetings Corp., 226 USPQ 365, 366 (TTAB 1985).

Not Necessary to Describe All Attributes of the Services

“A mark may be merely descriptive even if it does not describe the ‘full scope and extent’ of the applicant’s services.” In re Oppedahl & Larson LLP, 373 F.3d 1171, 1173, 71 USPQ2d 1370, 1371 (Fed. Cir. 2004) (citing In re Dial-A-Mattress Operating Corp., 240 F.3d 1341, 1346, 57 USPQ2d 1807, 1812 (Fed. Cir. 2001)); TMEP §1209.01(b). It is enough if the term describes only one significant function, attribute or property. In re Oppedahl, 373 F.3d at 1173, 71 USPQ2d at 1371; TMEP §1209.01(b).

First or Only User of Descriptive Term

The fact that an applicant may be one of the first users of a merely descriptive designation is not dispositive on the issue of descriptiveness where, as here, the evidence shows that the word or term is merely descriptive. See In re Sun Microsystems, Inc., 59 USPQ2d 1084, 1087 (TTAB 2001); In re Acuson, 225 USPQ 790, 792 (TTAB 1985); TMEP §1209.03(c).

Why Applicant’s Mark is Deemed Merely Descriptive for Applicant’s Services

Applicant seeks to register on the Principal Register the designation, “RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY” for services incorrectly set forth as “Association services, namely, promoting the interests of alternative social sustainability and design.” However, it appears that the proposed mark “RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY” is a pre-existing phrase in the socio-economic literature discussing economic models, a pre-existing phrase with a fairly widely known meaning.

What is the plain-language meaning of the phrase? “RESOURCE” is defined in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, excerpt attached hereto, as follows: “a natural source of wealth or revenue” or “a natural feature or phenomenon that enhances the quality of human life.” “BASE[D]” is defined in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, excerpt attached hereto, as follows: “to serve as a base for” or “find a basis for.” “ECONOMY” is defined in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, excerpt attached hereto, as follows: “the structure or conditions of economic life in a country, area or period; also an economic system.”

Thus it would appear, without going beyond the plain-language definitions of the words in the mark that a plausible meaning might be paraphrase as “An economic system based upon natural wealth phenomena that serves to enhance the quality of human life.”

Reading applicant’s specimen of use, entitled “RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY” it further appears that the resources contemplated as a basis for a stellar economy are any and all resources but money, credits, barter “or any other system of debt or servitude.” So the medium of exchange is removed from the economics of human and societal life, thereby setting the stage for existing resources from the land and sea, physical equipment, industrial plants etc. With our access to technology, and an attitude of willingness to share and work, everyone might be able to enjoy a very high standard of living with “all of the amenities of a high technological society.”

A “RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY” is presented as an alternative to a money-based economy.

It describes what may be a socio-economic “movement” or “cause”, as applicant describes it in the services description, an “alternative social sustainability and design.” As such, it appears to be the content of the economic theory, or design or model or system that relies on “resources” other than and rather than money.

Applicant will note the attached evidence that “RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY” is a phrase that’s been utilized to describe applicant’s alternative moneyless economy by others; a phrase whose meaning is so widely known that there are passionate arguments for and against it all over the Internet. Further there are learned International scholarly papers on the subject, see Ruger Ahrend’s “How to Sustain Growth in a Resource Based Economy?” The Main Concepts and their Application to the Russian Case. United Nations Discussion Paper Series No. 2005.3, October 2005. Attached also are a sampling from ten pages of Google “hits” for the phrase “RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY.” The phrase was original to the applicant from about 1969. It was descriptive for his economic model and remains descriptive of it.

Two major reasons for not protecting descriptive marks are (1) to prevent the owner of a descriptive mark from inhibiting competition in the marketplace and (2) to avoid the possibility of costly infringement suits brought by the service mark owner. In re Abcor Dev. Corp., 588 F.2d 811, 813, 200 USPQ 215, 217 (C.C.P.A. 1978); TMEP §1209. Businesses and competitors should be free to use descriptive language when describing their own services to the public in advertising and marketing materials. See In re Styleclick.com Inc., 58 USPQ2d 1523, 1527 (TTAB 2001).

THE MARK IDENTIFIES A SYSTEM

Registration is refused because the applied-for mark, as used on the specimen of record, merely identifies a process or system; it does not function as a service mark to identify and distinguish applicant’s services from those of others and to indicate the source of applicant’s services. Trademark Act Sections 1, 2, 3 and 45, 15 U.S.C. §§1051-1053, 1127; see In re Universal Oil Prods. Co., 476 F.2d 653, 655-56, 177 USPQ 456, 457 (C.C.P.A. 1973) (holding the wording PACOL and PENEX, as used on the specimens, are the names of a direct catalytic dehydrogenation process and a continuous catalytic isomerization process, and do not identify “research, development, evaluation, market and economic studies, consultation, design, engineering, and technical services” performed in connection with the identified processes); TMEP §§904.07(b), 1301.02(e).

A process or system is a way of doing something, and is not generally a service. Thus the name of a process or system does not function as a service mark unless it is also used to indicate the source of the services in the application. In re Hughes Aircraft Co., 222 USPQ 263, 264 (TTAB 1984); TMEP §1301.02(e).

Determining whether matter functions solely as the name of a process or system and also as a service mark is based on the manner in which the applied-for mark is used on the specimen and any other information of record pertaining to use of the mark. In re Hughes Aircraft, 222 USPQ at 264; TMEP §1301.02(e). In this case, the specimen shows the applied-for mark used solely to identify a process or system because the specimen so states, as follows: “A Resource-Based Economy is a system in which all goods and services are available without the use of money, credits, barter or any other system of debt or servitude. All resources become the common heritage of all the inhabitants, just a select few. The premise on which this system is based in that the Earth is abundant with plentiful resource; our practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant and counter productive to our survival.”

Clearly the author, who is the applicant, considers the “RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY” a system, having so written in defining it.

INFORMAL COMMUNICATIONS

The most expeditious way to solve disclaimer or goods or services description issues is by informal E-mail or voicemail. The following personal contact information is for applicant’s convenience, for trial runs, discussions or solutions involving examiner’s amendments.

Aspergers Syndrome

Aspergers syndrome. "Discovered" or "posited" or "studied" by "Hans Asperger". It is a rare condition, occuring in less than 10 percent of the population, probably less than 2 percent, but nobody knows for sure how many Aspies there are because At the high functioning end, An Aspie with a good set of Coping mechanisms can fool everybody but themselves.

In the formal ideation of Modern Psychology, Aspergers Syndrome is considered in essence a minor form of Autism. While this may even be true causaully, its not the right way to explain Aspergers Syndrome to anybody, because Aspergers Syndrome is a VERY DIFFERENT thing than Autism.

But lets start where they do. The Autistic. Imagine a human computer. Installed with some minor glitches. This one reverses the normative function of the immediate frontal lobes, and instead of discarding the subconscious mind in favor of having five senses, discards five senses in favor of having a basement universe to play inside of. The autistic lives inside of a dream of their own perpetuity, Not discriminating between "external" and "internal" forms of reality. They favor a sort of waking somnambulism. Which is hardly something a systems theorist can blame them for.

The normal brain, being wired for the five senses, has somehow to convince the frontal lobes that its immersed in them. Were it not for this illusion, created by the brain of being a sense orientated creature, The 99 percent of the communication that goes on in the brain about stuff happening in thoughts, ideations, or internal body maintenance would as a whole brain conversation overwhelm and thundersilence the comparatively tiny streams of data which are the sensory process.

The subconscious is subliminal because if it weren't, there would be too much noise in your head to think over. Moving on to the scitzophrenic. Which brodman brain areas might be having too loud a chat with each with each other there?

An Aspie, like an autistic or a scitzophrenic, has a relationship with the internal world which the normal brain does not, but, Which the Autistic or Scitzophrenic could never imagine either. The Aspie simply has more access to by will forms of altered states of consciousness, OR is simply hanging out in altered states of consciousness, OR, is having a useful cogent loud conversation between ordinarilly subliminal brodmanns brain areas. A scitzophrenic is having generally miscommunication which disturbs and frightens them. An Autistic is so enamored of the mind that he never leaves it. An Aspie, like an autistic knows of an inner world and tends to live there. But the aspie, unlike the autistic, or the Scitzophrenic does know the difference between the inner and outer world, and not getting the two even as confused as most normal people do, with their projections and their shadow issues and their bears and their inner lions and tigers and demons, (OH MY!).

Aspergers Syndrome exists itself as one band on a larger spectrum, a spectrum defined by psychological relationship to inner and outer reality. The autistic person can't leave inner reality behind until they are taught to. The Aspie on the other hand is rendered a visiting Alien.

Farther away than most peoples furthest Science Fiction Star, And yet Closer than the Total human Bellcurve Aspies are the real Aliens; From another universe, but hanging out here because the body seems handy. (And, sometimes inescapable.) The true proportions of this in the psychology sense are larger than the normal mind can imagine. But consider this. The human brain is still in theory the most powerful computer ever designed or built. To equal its computational power would require still building something costing billions if not trillions of dollars. The software it runs is uncracked, and we can't program computers to do many tasks humans do without even thinking about it. The occipital lobes which suspend the normal mind in its day dreams and its dreams both, while at the same time juggling the process of the actual visual information, sends a report to the frontal lobes which then tells the frontal lobes what is "seen." Everything you have ever seen, by the time it reaches "You", is but a neurally carried signal. The sophistication of this neural computer like network is so great that you are immersed in it and think that its you. People get the idea that they ARE their experiences; What comes from having five senses.

But thats not what we really are. What we really are, all of us, is a fractal holomorphic equation, iterated in tandem of a mass variation subroutine. That fractal equation is the whole of the universe, which our consciousness is merely one speck of. Consciousness; a mere property of all mass and energy and information, focalized into the ability to interact non ghostlike with physicality by virtue of inhabiting animal bodies.

The animal bodies focus and enhance and carry that signal, but they are not the origin of it, they are just one more chemical and atomic fractalization set, at the macrochemical scale. The same fractal equations built all of quantum mechanics, all of Atomic Mechanics, All of Chemistry and All of Biochemistry, the planets, the stars, the galaxies, just successive iterations of the same fractal inside of itself at many different scales.

That "Inner" world, and that "outer world" are two examples of that scalar level. Further studying the mind one learns that beta brainwave conditions lock a person to awareness of the five senses and a waking mind. Alpha conditions are the consciousness of the brain as self unit; And desolve the brains mental compartmentalization. Dreams are the activity the occipital lobes provides to cover the after hours staff meeting of the brodmanns brain areas. Signals from the subconscious mind, making past the filter provided to keep the beta level brain thinking its the whole thing. Theta brainwaves are actually the brain invested in a different external reality; That of the neurologic body. And Delta brainwaves are the brains resting state; Where most of the brain turns "off".

"Crazy" Is in most cases an inapropriate phase state interaction, Where one persons Brainwave states are connecting them to a reality which is socially incongruent. "Sane" however, is just one location in the matrix of possible "crazy" locations, which just happens to be the locations agreed upon via mostly pack psychology process.

And Aspies on the low end get to be the victims of the peculiar problem of this; That civilizations assumptions of its own neutrality are just as insane as any paranoid delusional psychotic. Yet, Society operates by having a majority agree to a version of reality. Its just a version. Its not reality.

In the many voices of the demon pundits, "Everybody is entitled to an opinion." This is rash nonsense. An opinion is an unwarranted idea fomented for political purposes by some body using propaganda. It is devoid of sense, disconnected from reason or knowledge, and does nothing whatsoever towards resolving any given problem. All opinions are equally useless. The only thing of value is an educated decision based on a total understanding of a situation, its parameters, its assorted causes and effects, the natural laws inovled, and so forth.

When one opens their mind, they begin to see across the gap. With study, An Aspie can begin to understand human culture not as a participant, but as a scientist, as a reverse lab rat joke, where god shrinks the lab techie and puts him in with the rats in the rat maze. On the other side, Humans who study psychology and who live with an aspie in the family might get to understand their Aspie, at least from the theoretical side.

But that one gap is in some ways a fractal echo of all gaps. The Gap between the conscious and unconscious mind, a stone wall for most minds and a road for aspies, We find there inside the echoes of the fractal equation, and the more we unravel, the closer we come to self knowledge. And true self knowledge is the wings that crosses all gaps, for there is in truth only one self to know. We are all sleeping fractal microbits, tricked by human bodies into thinking of self as local to those bodies. But self is as infinite as space and time, and is bound only by sufficient phase quantity to scale laws as to how present or awake it is in any given space or time.

And Time is only one place ever, and that is "Now." All pasts are recorded by all quantae's spins and properties, and chaos, entropy, and order take place as tiny additions and subtractions from all things everywhere. The string of Nows are thus just another illision created by being biochemical. Time is orbits around a sun or orbits around an atomic nucleus, locative potential phase states meandering around wave forms exploring their most probable positions in their positional matrixes.

An Aspie or A Human inherits a labyrinth. For a human, Those doors are all closed and that country within unknown. For an Aspie, Those doors are all open and that country within is home.

Which choice is Saner? Unlike an Autisic or a Scitzophrenic, I do not have a problem, Nor in truth any disability. Because my psychological condition is not simply distal from the norm, it is launched foreward and ahead on the bellcurve.

Aspies were called by Hans Asperger "Little Professors." Driven by an internal light to focus the mind on some few subjects, Aspies as Children had made themselves allready as knowledgable in some feild of knowledge as most adults ever become. They had allready pushed themselves to specialization, and done the reading required to understand some one thing (or two things, or three things....) Better than most adult Humans Understand their own Specialization.

Unable to form normal Human relationships, or to understand basic human rituals, socially clueless, seemingly lost, frequently mislabeled retarded, bullied and picked on by their peers....Born "Eccentric." Most human professors only become Eccentric after becoming so knowledgable that this knowledge sperates them from the general population. Aspies go the other way. They are seperate from society and so they study some peice of it until they know it better than almost anybody.

I am an Aspie. Aspergers Syndrome is a spectrum unto itself between high functioing Aspies ands Low Functioning Aspies. My brain does not always run so smoothly as a humans does. Sometimes it is a lot more like this desktop i am typing on. Sometimes it glitches and won't do what i want. But one thing i can tell you is; I know myself on the inside better than humans do. And this has slowly payed me dividends over the years.

My initial problems as a child could have been simply understood, and thus society might have had an even better Aspie to solve its assorted problems. But Alas, no, One of societies problems is that it victimizes Aspies, (And anybody whos different, wether its racial, sexist, or merely cognicentric.)

As An Aspie, My Interests were Psychology, World Religions, World History, Sociology, Civil Engineering, Space Exploration, Political Science, And Education.

So unlike most aspies, my feild of expertise isn't a phone book, or the sound properties of assorted metal objects, or Tiling Iterations and styles. My interests derived from a single simple question; "How do I Help These silly humans See their Nonsensical Game?"

You know ? THAT Game? The secret supersecret unsecret Game; Gaffe matrix taboo mind tricks and social metaprogram bricks The lines and their meanings and all of those toy soldiers and sides, a million propaganda warriors and their assorted lies Pack psychology and brutism and modern technology with still yet barbaric ethics and morality

Over the years, the Answer has become that i can't focus on the negative; So i have to instead show that there are problems and offer up solutions. This then requires of me to learn more about the probelms and solutions than any mere mortal.

But I am uniquely qualified as an objective alien, sitting outside of the human psychodynamic circus. To analyze and to filter, to find the most meaningful problem definitions and the best most useful and most productive solutions.

I am better at this in fact than any government, any think tank, any presidential platform, any party platform, or any human institution. Compared to me, NASA is barbaric. I Could show us how to colonize this solar system in the next 50 years. Compared to me, The department of Defense is an evil anachronistic childs game. I could show us how to build a military that could stand against an invading alien Civilization, and give us the civil and social engineering to ensure that we would never again have need to use a military against humans. I could show us how to create an eductional system which would deliver to each high school graduate an education equal to what is now 3 Doctorates. I could show us how to turn the earth back into a green Garden of Eden, rather than allowing market forces to render her a barren cross between Mars and Venus.

The question has now been for almost 20 years, not wether or not i had the answers, but wether or not anybody would listen, and wether or not i would be given sufficient chance to stand and deliver.

I am an aspie. I do not want fame. I do not want Public Office. I do not want any relationships with the papparazzi. I do not want to be crucified, By the Far Right, or the Far left.

What I do want is to lead an open source information resource, available to the public, drawing public support, Which serves humanity to solve in theory as an open source think tank, the highest order and toughest problems which confront Humanity.

It is possible through me, and by investing in this effort as a participant, To arrive at a future sociology and a future society, Not via the course of mere evolutionary process, but by lucid and enlightened design, by choice and by right action, through a labor of love, we may together climb slowly foreward in possible futures, Into better quality ones with more and more problems truly resolved, and less and less for anybody to bicker or complain about.

I allready live in two worlds. One World is as large as the collective unconscious. It is as big as Tiferet, and as vast as the far corners that might be found using ones merkabah Car. I have visited up the tree of life and I have seen the places mere mortals never know till after Death. I have seen the simulations in my minds eye of whole civilizations and space faring explorations, And swam in the collective unconscious of the Metaverses memories. I have been here; a million times. Poised on the edge of civilization at the cliff of Certain doom, or a new set of Human Choices. One voice, crying out in the wilderness, one voice, crying out in song. One knife, cutting the fabric of the paradigm, prometheus, returning from the center of tiferet with the fire of the Gods.

These two worlds, my inner world and the factual outer local planet earth; The collective unconsciousness of tiferet, and the physically substative Malkut; I juggle these two world; And my task is to bring one to meet the other. To open a portal through which, if we all work, we can pull out, we can fertilize, we can birth A new direction for our civilization towards a true modernity.

What I want is an open source arists collective; Together imagining and visualizing and thus starting the potential for creating A new world and other worlds; Geothermal power, Cable Cars, Arcologies, Permaculture Gardens, Starships, Robots, Nanotechnology, A functional modern Educational System, A functional modern Legal System, A functional Modern Human Civilization.

I cannot as one person do everything. I can provide only the blueprints and the foreward facing inferences. I will need the help of the entire population. Each person changes the world and transforms it by choosing personal evolution for themselves. I am an Aspie. In a very real poetic sense, I am from 2000 years into your future. But you may choose via me to manifest a new timeline, and to bring about a future which sprints through 2000 years of social and civil evolution.

WE can together accomplish in our lifetimes what would not have otherwise been accomplished by humanity in 2000 years.

WE can even (I hope) stretch to consider the possibilities for FTL travel, And to consider exploration and Colonization of our entire Galaxy.

The universe can be our oyster. But before we go "OUT THERE" we have to resolve and solve and plan and think "IN HERE". It can happen via random chaos over 2000 years, or, it can happen via enlightenment and lucid intention in less than 50.

The choice is up to humanity collectively; I am about to put my end on the table, to stand and deliver. That is what this year should be about. Omnipedia. Artists Collective

Dear Sir/Madam

I represent the Promethean Workers Association (“the PWA”), a volunteer political association based in the state of California with authorized affiliates in Minneapolis and Michigan.

I am filing a Letter of Protest (“Letter”) objecting to the attempt by Jacque Fresco (“Fresco”) to register as trademark “Resource Based Economy” (standard character mark) in the United States (Application Serial # 77829193).

As contemplated by TMEP §1715.02, we note that this Letter is being timely filed prior to the Trademark Office’s Publication for Opposition of the aforementioned applications.

15 U.S.C.§1052(e)(1) prohibits the registration of marks that are generic. Moreover, the Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure states that generic terms for goods and services are incapable of functioning as registrable trademarks denoting origin or any specific source and that such terms are not registrable on the Principal Register or on the Supplemental Register. See §1209.01(c). The TMEP §1209.01 also warns: “Matter which is generic for the goods or services is not registrable under any circumstances.” Genericness of a term sought to be registrered as a trademark is appropriate subject matter for a letter of protest. TMEP §1715.01(a)(1).

The PWA wishes to alert the Trademark Office that the term "Resource Based Economy" is a common venacular term used in the work of academics and non academics alike within the field of Natural Resource Economics. It appears in literature, and articles published both electronically and physically which understand this term as a generic name for a class of services encompassing association services related to alternative social sustainability and as a more generic term for their analysis in the field of natural resource economics.

Resource Based Economy Is a Standard Term used by other entities and individuals for different models of social sustainability and design.

Since the development of Natural Resource Economics as part of Environmental and Life Sciences in academia the term Resource Based Economy or with variant Economics has come to be understood as part of this trans disciplinary field of academic research. Further this term has also become the subject of research and development by entities and individual not associated with any academic body or discipline. Fresco's Resource Based Economy is a prominent example of one such model of social sustainability in addition to many others.

The PWA is a Volunteer Political Association of various individuals who are developers of Resource Based Economics. The purpose of which is providing free not for profit association services for alternative social sustainability and design available to all. To that end, the PWA develops and provides products and services that enable members of PWA members to further develop their own intellectual material regarding social applications and designs of a Resource Based Economy.

Moreover PWA enables various of members of academic schools of thought and the general public to develop their own ideas and intellectual materials regarding the Resource Based Economy. In addition there is many electronically published works which define different views of Resource Based Economy. Id. See for example, the following website addressing Resource Based Economy.

*

theresourcebasedeconomy.com

(Snapshot of website attached here to as Exhibit 1)

The PWA, its members, associates, collaborators, and agents regularly refer to the term Resource Based Economy in connection with the association services they provide. For instance, since 2005 the PWA has been making and distributing its own printed materials discussing social sustainability and design, and more recently has had members going out to schools to setup public display board presentations about “The Resource Based Economy. for college communities in Southern California such as San Diego City College and Southwestern Community College where PWA is also a student organization. Id. See, For examples of display board's used in these specific association services refer to Exhibits 2-7.

References to Resource Based Economy also appear on the PWA website both in the domain/ address and navigation bar. Id. See., for example, the following website showing this

o

(Snapshot of website attached hereto as Exhibit 8)

The Following are examples of Resource Based Economy used as a generic term in natural resource economics.

o

en.wikipedia.org

(“Wikipedia” redirects Resource Based Economy to its page on “Natural Resource Economics”)

(Snapshot of website attached hereto as Exhibit 9)

o

eprints.bbk.ac.uk

(“the political implications of russia's resource based economy”)

(Snapshot of website attached as Exhibit 10)

o

competition-regulation.org.uk

(“Addressing market power in a small isolated resource based economy”)

(PDF file attached hereto as Exhibit 11)

o

unece.org

(PDF file attached hereto as Exhibit 19)

The above evidence represents merely a small sample of the widespread and generic use of the term “Resource Based Economy” throughout many circles in terms of natural resource economics.

Additional Evidence of Generic Use

Further one may need do only a basic internet search on the term Resource Based Economy to find several examples of its generic use. Additionally i have enclosed copies of a few snapshots from PWA's own website, a flier and a PDF of our printed magazine showing use of the term “Resource Based Economy” on page 5 center column by a member of our organization. Further one may need do only a basic internet search on the term Resource Based Economy to find several examples of its generic use.

In conclusion, Fresco has applied to register “Resource Based Economy” for:

“Association services, namely, promoting the interests of alternative social sustainability and design”

However, “Resource Based Economy” is but a generic designation of either schools of thought or analysts working within the field of Natural Resource Economics who are both Academics and Non Academic individuals or entities. Therefore the association services themselves are already the common heritage of many researchers in the field of Natural Resource Economics who already promote the interests of alternative social sustainability and design and therefore cannot be trademarked as the property of one individual.

I respectfully suggest that this Letter of Protest sets forth a prima facie basis for refusal of registration of the above-referenced alleged trademarks, such that publication for opposition without consideration of the issues raised herein would constitute clear error by the PTO. Accordingly I ask the Trademark Office to take the enclosed evidence into consideration and urge the denial of registration.

For further information or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Fraternally,

Elizabeth Edwards – Co-International Organizer, Promethean Workers Association (PWA)

My Introduction to TVP;

The Venus Project is, according to its own claims, a Social movement for positive radical social change based on the works of one Jaques Fresco and A film maker known as Peter Joseph.

This is their main page. thevenusproject.com

This is their FAQ. thevenusproject.com

This Explains the Idea of a Resource Based Economy, also called an R.B.E. thevenusproject.com

This is apparently their Mission Statement. thevenusproject.com

This SA exists for the dual purposes of explaining what TVP is, what it claims to be, the difference between the two, and for liberating people caught in the cult.

TVP is NOT a Social Movement, it is in fact a cult.

This is not an easy thing to do for me personally because I rather like the ideals and goals and aims and rhetoric of the Cult. All in all, it is a situation where a very good batch of ideas have still managed to decay into a Cult. In this, my goal has been to help them, to communicate with them, and to try to help them solve their problems. However, a full month into trying to help them and 600 posts or so deep into their forum, they attacked me and banned me because I pointed out that they were breaking their own rules.

In short, TVP is a scam, entirely based on the real very good ideas and real very good concepts that they have, but then consumed into egotism, pack psychology, group think, and double think. For a group whos goals are to create a new semi utopian possible future, they have in fact manifested a dystopian reality on their forums. If they can not manage to bring about real change, real cooperation, real collaboration, or real metaprocess to even an Internet Forum, how then can they have pretensions to be able to solve real world social problems which are orders of magnitude more complicated?

They have no research other than that Conducted by Jaques. Real scientists won't get near them, because their approach is crack-potted. They have no real metaprocess for dealing with conflicts, and their admins are merely abusive trollish Jerks with admin powers.

All energy, time, money, and effort spent trying to help them, or talking on their forum, or giving them money, is thus wasted.

A. Tribe

tribes.tribe.net  I was first introduced to the movement via a new tribe invitation to a tribe with no references and no threads. Being a good samaritan, I looked up the movement and posted the link. And then I wandered in deeper.

B. Zeitgeist Films

I remembered that I had in fact watched the Zeitgeist films and been mostly apt with agreement and interest. Until recently I had not seen the addendums.

zeitgeistmovie.com

youtube.com

C. The Forum

I began reading the threads in their forum and analyzing their site. It had four main kinds of threads for my purposes. Firstly, Threads which were ignorant attacks or questions against the movement, which there were between 10 and 20 of on the first page of the forums. Secondly People raising legitimate concerns or issues, regarding problems with the movement, of which there were better than 10 in the first pages of the Forum, Thirdly, Interest threads, in which people discussed ideas and interests in the movement (the Vast majority of Threads) And then of course, my threads, where I attempted to provide useful information.

The sheer number of legitimate complaints and issues, and then how they were being handled demonstrated that things were far from paradise. And even the way that the Moderators handled ignorant attackers or merely curious questioners set off every alarm bell I had.

The moderators handled the first kind of threads so badly that I felt sorry for them and jumped in to help them. They answered the second kind of thread so badly that I began to cobble together a basic understanding of the inherent flaws of their approach by simply reading those points which people had made.

"in a world where lip service is the norm, aren't you ready for some real problem solving?"

Yes, I am, but, that is only what they promise and utterly fail to deliver.

The Zeitgeist Movement: Envisioning A Sustainable Future

"It takes a different value system if you wish to change the world," Jacque Fresco said to a sold out crowd of over 800 in New York City's Upper West Side. Though he may not need to convince these people, many his ardent followers, it will indeed take a restructuring of the mind for those unfamiliar with Fresco's work to realistically accept the ideas he proposes of a new global society that has given up money and property in favor of a shared, sustainable, technology-driven community. The caustic skepticism can already be heard, critics crying out with pointed fingers, decreeing communism, socialism, insanity! But as Fresco himself will tell you, communism is still just another system with banks and social stratification. The kind of world he imagines for the future is much different. To ease the transition, The Zeitgeist Movement provides a wealth of dizzying information detailing why a new global system is not only preferred, but necessary, and just how we can get there.

March 14th, 2010 was the second annual celebration of ZDay. Coordinated by The Zeitgeist Movement, ZDay is an educational event geared toward raising awareness of the movement. While 337 sympathetic events occurred in over 70 countries worldwide, NYC was home to the main event, a 6-hour live web cast presentation with lectures from the movement's key figures, and 30 different countries represented in the audience.

So what exactly is The Zeitgeist Movement? Not even two years old, the movement declares itself as the activist arm of The Venus Project, an organization started in the 1970s by Fresco and his partner, Roxanne Meadows. The Venus Project distributes resources promoting Fresco's vision of an improved society, with the main component being a resource-based economy, rather than a monetary-based one. In Fresco's resource-based economy, the world's resources would be considered as the equal inheritance of all the world's peoples, and would be managed as efficiently and carefully as possible through focusing on the technological potential of sustainable development. It is toward this idea that The Zeitgeist Movement works to educate and inform people.

The movement's founder, Peter Joseph, came to notoriety with his 2007 internet film sensation, Zeitgeist, and it's 2008 successor, Zeitgeist: Addendum. While many people may find it hard to digest the idea of a world without currency, Joseph's argument that our economic system is the source of our greatest social problems was supported with valuable evidence.

Describing how the margin between upper and lower classes is growing larger every day, Joseph cited that 20% of the American population controls 85% of the money. Also mentioning that the Walton family (of Wal-Mart) owns $90 billion while the lower 40% of America own $95 billion. The most startling revelations he divulged, however, were found when he graphed the amount of specific social issues in the world's richest countries against those countries' level of income inequality. The results were astounding, showing that America, a wealthy country but with a vast gap between its rich and poor, is plagued with higher homicide rates, drug use, obesity, mental illness, teenage pregnancy, infant mortality, and imprisonment. On the other hand, countries with much more equal income levels, such as Japan, have better educational scores, longer life expectancies, and higher levels of trust among their populations. The strong correlation is difficult to ignore: the higher a country's income inequality, the more social problems that degrade it, regardless of its GDP.

Joseph seemed well prepared for all the naysayers. For those who argue that the free market is an open system where anyone can achieve wealth, he displayed figures showing that America is one of the most socially immobile countries in the world, meaning that those born poor are likely to stay poor, and those born rich are likely to stay rich. For the argument that the competitive nature of capitalism produces more innovation, Joseph showed statistics that the countries with higher income equality filed more patents per million people each year than the United States and similar countries of larger income gaps.

This is aside from the obvious impact on the climate that a capitalist system creates. In a monetary society, Joseph points out, obsolescence is encouraged, as the shorter lifespan a product has, the more profit it generates in the long-term. Excess waste is built into the system, which flourishes from disposability and inefficiency. In a monetary system, Joseph says, change, abundance, sustainability, and efficiency are the enemies of profit. He goes on to add, "Corporations are not in competition with other corporations but with progress itself."

The plights of today are plainly evident, but how do we solve them? Getting rid of money, ownership and even government might sound like a ludicrous fantasy, but to the over 386,000 registered members of the fast-growing Zeitgeist Movement, it is not an option, but the only chance we have at creating a peaceful society, in harmony with nature, that provides a high-standard of living for everyone. Joseph made the focus clear in his presentation: resource preservation is equal to human survival, and all the social ideologies that currently exist are inadequate because they don't address resources as a part of their fundamental principals.

Joseph emphasized that the solution begins with a remodeling of our social values, starting with education based on sustainability. The ideal society, proposed by the project, would have a worldwide automated computer system actively monitoring the levels of the world's surveyed resources and ranking them according to factors such as their potential, renewability, and pollution. This computer would intelligently make objective decisions as to the uses of these resources based on empirical fact, not biased legislation. Automated labor would be perfected on a mass scale, something frowned upon in capitalism because it is equated with job loss and unemployment. Fresco insists eliminating all mundane jobs that insult human capacity when they can instead be relegated to machines that will act more precisely and productively.

From the maximization of resources and efficiency of automated labor, Fresco imagines a world of abundance, where everything is available to everyone. As idealistic as this may sound, keep in mind that there is currently enough food to feed everyone in the world, but not enough money to pay for it. One billion people (one-sixth of the world) are starving, yet American's throw out approximately 40% of their purchased food. Fresco says that in a world where everything is supplied, the majority of today's crimes would be non-existent, as they are primarily related to obtaining money and property, or born of social inequality. The crimes that still exist would be considered symptomatic of mental aberration, and these people would be given treatment and help, not punished, as no prisons would exist. People would be rewarded with an incentive system for contributions based on social relevance.

Celebrating his 94th birthday, Fresco was lively and animated as he guided the audience through a visual presentation of his conceptual ideas and models for sustainable technology. Wowing the crowd with images that seemed of science fiction, the audience was assured that nothing was unrealistic about his designs, and if science and technology were focused on progress instead of consumption, they would all be easily realized.

The members of The Zeitgeist Movement seem to face an intimidating wall of those who decree their goals as unattainable. But with 250 international chapters forming in just one year and the membership count rapidly growing, it's undeniable that many easily identify with the message. The evidence shows that our current system is leading us on a collision course; our present model of society cannot sustain itself. While some deny this, others ignore it, and there are those who still try to profit off of it. The Zeitgeist Movement highlights that there are individuals who believe in a sustainable future where humanity is not united by religious or political ideology, but by the scientific method, venerated as the savior that can develop a system of human equality, thriving from the cooperation and balance of technology and nature.
