Brad, sun flares are something that I have mixed feelings about. I believe earth and the sun (without sounding too religious) have a deal... (?) I've seen some serious flares come off the Sun over the past 30 years. We've witnessed, just recently, flares that could blow the atmosphere off this planet, yet they always happen from the backside of the sun and are total misses, or at best they become glancing blows. A direct blow, the sunspot would have to be front and centre and perfectly aligned with earth, and the odds of having a beta-gamma-delta (magnetically complex) type sunspot front and centre are pretty rare. That said, the "deal" in my mind is because of the direct influence the sun's plasma has on both the magnetosphere of this planet and consciousness.
