Gingrich: Fear Islamic dictatorship
Morning Call ^ | 07/20/07 | Daryl Nerl

mcall.com

Former House speaker and possible presidential contender Newt Gingrich, speaking Thursday night at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, conjured up images of an Islamic dictatorship in the United States as the consequence of failure in Iraq.

''It isn't about Israel. It isn't about us being in Iraq,'' Gingrich told about 500 people gathered at the Impact '07 leadership conference at Stabler Arena. ''They want to impose their dictatorship on us.'' In grim terms, Gingrich described the most severe consequences for women, who he said would not have been allowed to attend the Lehigh conference.

''If you want to be able to drive, to have a job, to have a checkbook; if you don't want to have to wear a veil; if you want to be able to appear in public without a man, you'd better hope our team wins,'' Gingrich said as he concluded his appearance on the Stabler stage, the first visit to the Lehigh Valley by a potential 2008 White House contender. During a question-and-answer session, event host and radio personality Bobby Gunther Walsh put Gingrich on the spot about his presidential aspirations, but the Pennsylvania-born former congressman from Georgia remained coy. ''Beats me,'' Gingrich said when Walsh asked him if he would run. Asked about a possible running mate, Gingrich said: ''I don't know.''

Democrats Nix John Doe Law

Democrats on the House/Senate conference committee have dropped from the Homeland Security bill the provision that would protect "John Doe" citizens from lawsuits when they report suspicious behavior to the authorities.

This is a good example of how Congress really works. The "John Doe" measure passed the House on a 304-121 vote, which means that many Democrats didn't want to go on record as opposing the measure. Instead, they killed it quietly in conference committee. So now Democrats in "swing" districts--those must be the ones where voters take seriously the risk of terrorist attack--can tell voters that they voted for the measure, and take no responsibility for the fact it never became law. This dodge is as old as the Republic.

It also shows the importance of party affiliation. If the Republicans still controlled Congress, a majority of conferees never would have voted to strip "John Doe" protection out of the bill.

He is right. You can not even report suspected terror activity now, without fear of being sued.

Democrats cut 'John Doe' provision
By Audrey Hudson
July 19, 2007
Congressional Democrats today failed to include a provision in homeland security legislation that would protect the public from being sued for reporting suspicious behavior that may lead to a terrorist attack, according to House Republican leaders.

"This is a slap in the face of good citizens who do their patriotic duty and come forward, and it caves in to radical Islamists," said Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican and ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Republicans wanted the provision included in final legislation, crafted yesterday during a House and Senate conference committee, that will implement final recommendations from the September 11 commission.

Mr. King and Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican, sponsored the provision after a group of Muslim imams filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against US Airways and unknown "John Doe" passengers. The imams were removed from US Airways Flight 300 on Nov. 20 after fellow passengers on the Minneapolis-to-Phoenix flight complained about the imams' suspicious behavior.

Just saw a BBC television report. Turkish generals are interested in invading the Kurdish part of Iraq to basically wipe them out. Unfortunately, your earlier theory seems out the window.

And these guys call themselves tough in the war on terror?

It would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.

Here's a short list of what would have happened if the liberals had won the White House the last time around:

1) sadam insane would still be murdering and torturing his own people,
2) sadam insane would have invaded more than three of his neighbors,
3) we would have had numerous terrorist attacks on our own land, these attacks would dwarf the 9/11 attack,
4) they would have completely eliminated the immigration department and created completely open borders,
5) crude oil would cost $180 per barrel and not $70 per barrel,
6) long lines at the gas pump,
7) inflation at 22% and soaring,
8) even bigger deficits,
9) more wasteful spending on frivolous government handouts,
10) the U.S. military would be completely disbanded and all military bases closed down,
11) V.A. hospitals closed down,
12) all municipal emergency medical services bankrupt,
13) Israel would no longer exist,
14) American women would be required to wear burkas,
15) global warming would become the official religion of this country,
16) speaking English in public would be outlawed...

These are just a few of the things I would have expected from the Traitor Party, or with most any libo whacko running today... it would not be a pretty picture, and don't think it can't happen...

Many Jihadist Web Sites Hosted In U.S.
UPI ^ | July 20, 2007

upi.com

WASHINGTON, July 20 (UPI) -- Many anti-American jihadist Web sites are hosted by servers in the United States, an Israeli expert said this week.

"Islam makes great use of the Internet," Yigal Carmon, president of the Middle East Media Research Institute, a pro-Israel think tank in Washington, told a press conference on Capitol Hill. Carmon previously served as a senior intelligence official in the Israeli Defense Forces for 20 years and as a top counter-terrorism adviser to Israeli prime ministers Yitzhak Shamir and Yitzhak Rabin.

Terrorists in all three of the recent botched terrorist attacks -- the London car bombs, the JFK airport fuel line and the Fort Dix military base in New Jersey -- were inspired by jihadist Web sites, according to MEMRI.

Carmon said that there are countless Web sites, like the one with a caption atop its main page saying "Kill Americans everywhere," that are hosted by American servers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, Minnesota, Washington and New Jersey.

'I Hoped To Be A Glorious Martyr'
BBC ^ | 7/18/07 | Rafia Riaz

news.bbc.co.uk

A woman who was inside Islamabad's Red Mosque when it was stormed by Pakistani troops on 10 July has given the BBC one of the first accounts of the final hours of the siege. Unwilling to be named, the survivor said she was not held hostage by militants inside.

More than 100 people died in the army operation - she was one of only 30 women to walk out alive after soldiers went in. Following are excerpts from the interview with Rafia Riaz of the BBC's Urdu service.

...
"They asked me to come back home, but I said that I would never come back as I wished to be martyred. My brother said that he would force me to return, but I told him that he could be beaten up if he came near the seminary..."
...
"We wanted to carry out suicide attacks. We didn't have enough ammunition to fight face to face. We had a small number of arms with which our mujahideen brothers were fighting.

"We asked the teacher to provide us with arms necessary for suicide attacks. She said that we didn't have sufficient explosives. Yes, we had a passion and we were willing to go to all lengths...

"After the evening prayer we found out that Maulana Aziz - the chief cleric - had been arrested while he was trying to flee wearing a burka. We were told that he'd been called to speak to the prime minister.

"When we asked our teacher why Maulana Aziz had left in a burka she said that the prime minister advised him to do so. She said that he had been told to come out in disguise so that he wouldn't be killed..."
