That's a house rule, depends on the broker. You might have to "put up" $5.00 to short a $2.50 stock.

But I wouldn't object if we use $5.00 as the lower limit for a short.

Taro, we should add some rule that just as you can sell a stock on any trading day, you can also cover a short on any trading day.
