<Anyone who sells oil companies with fundamentals this solid has got to be crazy>

Correct, except that people have been selling (including more than a few fund managers on RobTV and Bloomberg) and shorts have made money off energy lately and it has been painful to be long and it has been less painful for successful traders.

Added some PD.UN this morning. Not sure if I'll hold for the yield or sell for CG.

Does anyone think the naked shortsellers are trying to capitalize on some negative oil sands sentiment and are shorting the pink sheets and otcbb names?

I see SOIGF rebounded after 7 down sessions. Doesn't someone have a 7 candle rule (ie 7 down candles are more often followed by an up day than not)?

SRGG is still affected.

It is very possible, especially in the .PK stocks. Although, SOIGF did get hit as did CWPC. Interesting observation.

OT: general market questions (warning = big possibly stupid/boring post)

Sorry to bother the experienced here with strange questions, but the more I learn about the market (corruption/manipulation), the more I feel like shark food.

What is really happening with strange trades shown after the close?
Today SOIGF had three 10K+ trades shown shortly after 4pm:
otcbb.com
(Look under "Depth/LII")

6.44 500 OBB 16:16:44
6.49 11834 OBB 16:11:28<<<<---- WTF (#3)?
6.21 15599 OBB 16:07:54<<<<---- WTF (#2)?
6.00 10000 OBB 16:03:13<<<<---- WTF (#1)!?!?!??
6.44 2500 OBB 16:02:12
6.44 500 OBB 16:00:08
6.45 3500 OBB 16:00:04
6.45 5000 OBB 16:00:04
6.43 842 OBB 15:59:52 <<<--- official close $

I think I've read that these late trades are really just postings of trades earlier in the day and these are just "clean up the books" entries, so can look funny.....
...but SOIGF was only at 6.00 around 10am, and at the 6.20 area no later than 1pm.....so it makes no sense to me that everything is usually posted in a timely way except it takes up to six hours for some trades to post?????

If it is normal EOD trading, then why on earth would anyone offer their shares at $6.00 at 4pm when the going rate was 6.40+????
If it was a million shares trade I could guess that they just had to settle for what they could get...but not for 10K.
Was it just a market order that got royally screwed as usual?
(related ref=look at CWPC from 9:45 to 10:45 this morning)

-----------------------------------------------------------
If you are really bored/kind/whatever, maybe you can address this question as well:
Have you ever had a partial fill on a sell(limit order) and then watched 1000's of shares trade at equal/higher prices while the rest of your order seemed to be put on "hold"?...and then finally get the rest of your shares sold at a lower price? I had this happen on the July 11 peak of SOIGF.
I even called Scottrade to complain and was told everything was "normal" and that since my lower sales were still above my limit, I shouldn't be complaining. B*** S***!
It took 10 minutes (and 1000's of other shares sold/bought)after my initial sell(16% of total) to see the rest(84%) and though the money difference was very small, I'm just pissed that I seemed to have got jerked around by some MM/specialist and got kicked out of my place in line.
Damn bullies! :/

-------------------------------------------------------------
For the extremely patient only:
What is up with trades for 100 shares at 6.3001/6.3099 on a stock trading with bid/ask at 6.30 & 6.31?
I watched HSOA today and saw this happen over and over, but have never seen it on other stocks at such ridiculous prices.
I understand playing in the spread, but what value is there in taking the time to place a bid/ask that saves/gains one penny?
(or even 10 cents on 1000 shares?). I'm not questioning saving money....I'm just curious as to why this stock seemed to be swarmed with such strange activity today.

Regards and thanks for any responses,
Chuckles.

In order to ensure the buy or sell by being the best bid or offer by shaving a nano centime off (or on to) your price.

I guess I assumed that much, but why did they never show as the bid/ask?

Why is the higher/lower offer being hidden? (I often put in mid spread offers and get filled, but never thought to ask how it really works)

Someone had to have put in a specific order at those tiny increments, but the bid/ask price & shares offered would stay the same for like 5 minutes while all this "background" trading was going on.

Doesn't seem proper somehow...
...but then I'm still amazed to hear that newspapers are just platforms for political parties agenda (as in owned by a specific party supported, and so party specific "spin" is applied) instead of actually just being NEWSpapers.

DUH....stupid me....

Regards,
Chuckles.

"Excellent bottom calling!"

I got lucky.
Saw it twice on the chart and made an assumption.

Between a loyal following and low float, SOIGF seems a trading joy toy. Bad news is it looks to me like it is slowly getting "stretched" out into something less fun.
I have no actual knowledge on that......just a SOIGF fan gut feel....unless we can get some new good news.

Now if we could just find someone to "get lucky" on the call of the next top!

PS: I sound cryptic because I have no idea what I'm talking about :)

Regards,
Chuckles

This kind of activity seems to be a feature of the bulletin board stock landscape.

I have traded in and out of CWPC since August, 2005 and have found it very difficult to buy or sell without chasing at least a little.

Good luck.
