Sometimes my OWN second-hand smoke gets to me. When that happens, I open a window.

When I had to physically commute and I'd get stuck in traffic, after a time car fumes could nauseate me and make my chest hurt, and so do some household cleaning solutions--and to a greater degree than do cigarettes and second-hand smoke. - Holly

That said, in a kinder, gentler era, rumor had it that J. Edgar turned a blind eye to the Mafia because he liked to play the horses. If true, a much simpler explanation.
Or both were true. Now that you mention the horsies, I remember that too. The Mob would tell him which horse would win. He supposedly was really good at the track. :-)

You COULD quit.
And save the money you spend on The Filthy Weed. At the end of the first year of not smoking, buy yourself a nice present. And you can repeat that every year. My first present was an expensive 35 mm camera I'd wanted for a long time.

Ah, I LOVE the smell of diesel exhaust. :-)

Cleaners: I suspect you get a pretty high concentration of nasty stuff from them.

Good reason not to clean house, huh? <g> Yes, money is a factor, but not that much. Cigarettes are not as expensive here, but they cost a great deal more than they did when I started smoking. Besides, I sometimes buy them over the Internet via the American Indians. I remember when cigs went to $5.00 a carton. I was going to quit then. - Holly

Not positive if this was a part of a possible major attack on the US, we loaded up all the planes we had (19 F-106's, 95th FIS) with conventional and nuke air to air missiles and waited for whatever.
Hmmmm. First time I've heard this. Not surprising, though. Who knew what was coming down?


For 911, I was already retired and turned on my TV less than 5 minutes after the first tower was hit. Watched it all day. Horrible.
Absolutely godawful horrible. I was ready to send some of those nukes you mentioned by return mail.
