-- despite its monumental disaster in Iraq --

Actually they were able to accomplish this BECAUSE of their monumental disaster in Iraq.

By synthesizing a "war", although a purely fictional, unilateral, conflict from any logical perspective, they were able to delude the American electorate into re-electing the most tyrannical regime in our history.

Ya know, the "War President" and all that bullshit.

The reason for the war in Iraq was strictly a GOP political gambit to extend the time for the transfer of wealth to the rich.

There is no other valid reason.

Exactly right. The American people would not have allowed such wasteful spending any other way.

Whenever someone talks about concepts like patriotism, freedom, and democracy, watch out! These are fine concepts that are usually used by deviants to try and sucker you into doing something they couldn't otherwise convince you to do. Anyone who has traveled extensively can usually see right through the BS.

I expect congress to start using those words soon with regards to ethanol.

Lieberman IS a republican in all but name. It's time that he made that official. At least the people of Connecticut will know that they are voting for a republican the next time he runs for office.

"My guess is that each of the principals in the administration brought to the table their own reason for wanting to invade Iraq. For Bush it was to do something better than Daddy for once in his life. For Cheney, oil and contractor bonanzas. For Wolfowitz and Perle, defeating an enemy of Israel. And for Rumsfeld, proving his theory about the application of 21st century military power. For Rove, though, it was to enhance and consolidate the president’s power – allowing Bush to jam his domestic agenda down the throats of the American people, via a compliant and very Republican Congress –"

I sense just the slightest hint of disgust in that article. :)

What he doesn't seem to realize is that the democrats are not much different. Both parties are totally worthless. Bush didn't win in 04 because of his track record. He won because of Kerry. Many people, including myself, were voting against a wishy-washy elitist who thought he knew better than everyone else. If John McCain had run in 04 he would probably be president right now.

The democrats do more damage to their own cause than the republicans do.

We do need a third party to represent the people and to defend their rights. What we have now is essentially a corporate run bureaucracy that purports to speak for the people. I've always been of the opinion that the two party system gives people the illusion of having a choice when in fact the choices are being made for them somewhere else. It's true that we get to choose between two candidates but in reality neither candidate would be there without the consent of the behind-the-scene powers (Special interest groups and big money) who in the end provide the funding for their campaigns.

Don't get too wrapped up in rationalizing your 2004 vote.

If you are able to construct an argument that convinces you of why you would vote for Bush over any qualified candidate, you may not be able to be objective in 2008 either....

McCain is proving to be another unmitigated GOP disaster.

They appear to have a perpetual supply of whores.

With an ACU rating of 17, Lieberman is far to the left of the left edge of the GOP.
