80% of the people listen to only 20% of the music... if that much.

Wonderful song. Luv Joni Mitchell. And, your point is well taken.

Those of us who actually resonate, either with the music we make or from the music of others, and/or have eyes that can feel great art, are rich beyond measure.

First. Kudos. A 1951 D-18. What a treasure?! Hope there's a son or daughter who appreciates it and wants to keep it in the family.

Unfortunately, the cello my grandfather used on repeated tours of the major European symphonys, as a featured soloist, before WWI, is long gone.

<you must have a room full...what are your favorites>

Should. But don't. After injuring my left and a near fatal bout with meningitis in early 1970 put an end to my own promising musical career, very thankful I can still play reasonably well. Little reason to keep more than a couple of good guitars.

13 yr old Martin 000-28 VS is the best instrument I've ever owned. To my ear? Only guitar I've played with better overall sound was the 1952 Gibson J-200 Dave Van Ronk used until the later 1960s when I arranged the sale of it to one of my friends and Van Ronk bought a Guild. Dumbest thing I ever did was not buying it myself!! Talk about a treasure?!

The VS has the wider fingerboard necessary to avoid string buzz from having to tape the end of my left index finger. J&J flexible fabric with a little additional padding underneath works very well.

Other guitar is a nearly 25 yr old Yari Grand Concert classical. Great aged tone. Very playable. An excellent instrument for a few Bossa Nova pieces, softer folk songs, and misc. finger style instrumentals. Of course the steel string Martin has more of an edge. Great for flat picking AWA finger style. Also, each interacts well, in it's own way with vocals.

One of the things that's made me VERY happy (due to my career being cut short) is to pass the baton to my nephew. Was the only relative, other than his brother and parents, invited to his senior recital at Carnegie Mellon University. He's an excerp from that performance:

Here's a new tune by my young friends, The Endangered, out of LA.

This is an original song written by them, I think they are really talented....

I've known the guitar player since he was about 16.

Thanks Scott. Talented for sure. Excellent vocalist, good arrangement, nice mix, and production. Very professional presentation. They should do well. Do they feel they have good agency representation?

Singer reminds me of Vanessa Williams. Hi praise, as I really dig some of Vanessa's stuff. Here's my personal fav from, what IMO is, her best CD:

Nick, the guitarist, is actually working more these days as a producer & music exec....the kid is a phenom, he is very savvy, and talented. It's good to see him playing more again, he is a great player...when I get some solo video, I'll post it.

Cool. Look forward to that.

Thanks also to Prometheus for the heads up on Adam Rafferty.

Looking for 1st rate finger style arrangement and performance of this Stevie fav for a long time. And what do ya know?! He nailed it. Light touch, yet gets a wonderfully clear, defined, sound:

Thanks for the heads up. Not heard him before. Here's one he does with Sting that caught my ear. Can be tricky to combine cultures without creating more dissonance than harmony. But they do a beautiful job here:
