Sold the rest of my shares for 5.70. No clue why it rebounded on nice volume, but I have no complaints, lol.

No watch it go to $8, lol. Then I'll complain !

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--2009 International CES, South Hall 4 - Booth #31453: Hauppauge Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP - News), the world's leading developer and manufacturer of analog and digital TV tuner products for personal computers, has announced that their HD PVR now has direct recording support for digital audio and for the high definition format used by the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3). HD PVR is a high definition video recorder for PCs and Macs. It records from HD cable TV and satellite set top boxes and allows a user to create libraries of high definition TV shows and movies for playback on HD TVs or burning to disk in a Blu-ray format.

HD PVR records videos onto the hard disk of a USB attached PC. Previously, the HD PVR could record high definition videos in an H.264 format which needed to be converted to a PS3 compatible format. With the new version, HD PVR records directly into a high definition PS3 format. The playback of high definition video from a PC to a Sony PS3 through a home network is popular among PS3 users. The HD PVR recordings can also be played on the Xbox360, but a conversion step is required before the HD PVR recordings can be played.

In addition to direct recording in a PS3 format, the new version of HD PVR supports the recording of 5 channel digital audio through the SPDIF connector on HD PVR.

The HD PVR can connect to high definition cable TV or satellite TV set top box receivers, and uses it’s on-board H.264 hardware encoder to record high definition TV programs in an ISO standard HD H.264 AVC format in real time. The connections to the set top boxes are made via component cables, also referred to as ‘YPrPb’ or the red/blue/green connectors on HD set top boxes.

To enable automatic recording of TV programs, the HD PVR recorder includes Hauppauge’s IR Blaster, which controls the channels on most popular cable and satellite TV set top boxes in North America and Europe, and will allow users to schedule the recording of their HD programs.

In addition to high definition H.264 recordings, the Hauppauge video encoder can also create AVCHD recordings, which is the format used on Blu-ray high definition players. As part of the software applications which will be shipped with Hauppauge’s HD encoder, a DVD burning application will be provided which can take AVCHD formatted recordings and burn them onto a conventional DVD disc. These discs can then be played in Blu-ray players. About 2 hours of Blu-ray HD content can be recorded on a conventional DVD disk.

The HD PVR is available from Amazon and other on-line sources with a suggested retail price of $249

The Pinnacle PCTV product line, consisting of 5 TV tuner products for North and South America and 12 products for Europe and Asia, will continue to operate as a separate product line under the new name of “PCTV Systems.” The PCTV product line will be operated independently from Hauppauge’s WinTV product line. With engineering and marketing based in Braunschweig, Germany, PCTV Systems will continue to develop new products for both PCs and Macs.

“PCTV has developed a strong consumer following for its excellent user interface and for the ease of installation,” said Ken Plotkin, CEO of Hauppauge Digital. “We will therefore continue to grow and enhance the PCTV Systems product line separate from our WinTV line of TV tuners for PCs. Hauppauge Launches New TV Application for PCs

WinTV version 7 has new User Interface plus adds features for Digital TV users in North America

Thursday January 8, 2009, 10:41 am EST

Yahoo! Buzz Print

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--2009 International CES, South Hall 4 - Booth #31453: Hauppauge Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP - News), the world's leading developer and manufacturer of TV tuner products for personal computers, has announced WinTV v7, a major new version of their WinTV application. WinTV v7 was designed to be used by the new generation of digital TV tuners for PCs and has features for digital TV not previously available.

WinTV v7 was designed to add support for new features found in North American over-the-air ATSC digital TV transmissions. On Feb. 9, 2009, the U.S. will shut off over-the-air analog TV transmissions and replace them with ATSC digital TV. All of the current Hauppauge TV tuners for PCs and Macs sold in North America can receive ATSC digital TV.

WinTV v7 has a new, easier to use, user interface. Some of the new features in WinTV v7 for digital TV include: program information, close caption display and parental control. In addition to these features for digital TV programs, WinTV v7 supports mixed Hauppauge TV tuners in a PC system. For example, a user might have a Hauppauge TV tuner in their PC and wants to add a second Hauppauge USB attached TV tuner so that they can record two TV programs at once. WinTV v7 allows the mixing of different Hauppauge TV tuners.

For European digital TV, WinTV v7 adds support for digital teletext and a free seven day electronic program guide in addition to “now/next” program information.

WinTV version 7 is available from the Hauppauge website at www.hauppauge.com as a free download for Hauppauge ATSC/NTSC/QAM TV tuners.

Strange things happened

updated and formatted ver - trader-television.com

As of: May 16 2010 5:32 PM EDT

Hauppauge Digital, Inc.

Disclosure: TraderTV is short from 4.50, up 13% as of Friday's close

In 2 regular trading hours HAUP leapt 400% on news about an iPhone app that can stream from the company's WinTV-HVR tuner cards to iPhone, iPad, or any web browser. The application is PC-only. The iPhone application OrbLive has been in the app store for months.

Key Points:

- Mysteriously, over the weekend the OrbLive ratings in the iTunes app store reset from 306 ratings to 0 ratings. Was this to promote the impression that the software is new?

- Based on 306 ratings if 3% of paid users rated the application HAUP made a grand total of $102,000 from OrbLive sales. Meanwhile, at Friday's close the market cap increased by $30,000,000.

- HAUP received notification that it would be delisted if its stock price is not above $1/share on Monday May 17th

- The company has increased earnings slightly over last year so far, is losing money, and has ~$10M in equity.

*** chart ****

The reason HAUP skyrocketed so hard and fast is 1) the Apple/iPad PR headline and 2) the 10M share float which was easily taken over by traders. On Friday the dollar volume was about $4 x 30M = $120M or 3x the bloated market cap.

This means that HAUP is 100% in control of traders. The near term prices will be decided by emotions associated with the entry and exit points of traders rather than pure fundamentals. From the gap up, most longs are in at high prices $4+.
