Had a massive kidney stone removed 38 years ago and have drank cranberry juice ever since. I am a big believer now. They are the most painful condition that I can think of and I don't ever want another...Grandmother had them, Mother had them and my oldest sister did also.

I grow them (stones) unfortunately too easily... Have passed countless and many meteor size.. Nothing against cranberry juice.. I like it a lot actually and I believe it is effective.. but it's diuretic properties dry me out too much I find.. I drink four litres plus of water daily.. Two glasses of cranberry juice is all I can handle daily... I also have osteoporosis which provides the calcium and forces me on a tightrope of Ca control.... I'm taking a much increased dose of D3 these days and am scheduled for my annual bonescan early in 2010 so I will find out how well I'm doing then... Will post results.. Osteoporosis is a lot more prevalent in men that folks realise... There is a reason my Levis don't look as good as they used to... my behind has evaporated ;o)

i think k2 is essential long term. it's one of my favorites. strontium is probably more suited for short term help, or maybe off and on. you'd need bone density tests to know for sure. search the life extension site to get some of the latest info. even though it's there mostly to sell supplements it seems like honest info and research that's done in house.

I have annual scans done... next one in January.. I was told three years ago that I had the bones of an 80 year old.. and doc was mortified to hear m lifestyle... including pretty aggressive alpine skiing. Never broken a bone..

I think I mentioned this before, but regular use of the highly acidic lemon juice can hurt tooth enamel. So, rinse with water immediately after drinking it.
