wow ..... ok.

I sure didn't put the U2 flights and the mobile bioweapons labs together. Thanks.

Its too bad that its come to this. The thing that's always mystified me is the fact that as far as I can recall, every time the US says we need to send inspectors in, the US gives Saddam 3 - 4 months to hem and haw and finally concede. During which time he is hiding his weapons programs.

Why didn't we just give him 1 week, to hell with the UN and all that bullshit, after which the inspectors show up ?

And if he refused to let them in -- well that's all the proof we'd need.

If Bush had pressed this back in Oct/Nov and made a case of it them, he'd have a lot more support. Because he didn't, he's now looking for that elusive "smoking gun".

Chris. I recall the North Koreans played endless games with the cease fire negotiators.
They would cut 2 inches off the legs of allied chairs so that the allies would feel shorter, which shows how well they were committed to negotiations.

Saddam is the same way. Denial, wiggling, and continuation of criminal behaviour.

You read about the assorted delays when inspectors wanted to look at certain places? Car accidents, traffic jams, where there were normally no traffic jams? Just a large enough delay so that the goods can be swept under the rug.?

Saddam is a bully at heart, and the only way to deal with him is the same way you deal with a bully in the school yard, by making it painfull to him to carry on his bully tactics.

His scientists have been told their families are hostages and they must take tape recorders into any meetings with Blix....so Saddam can see they stuck to the script during the interview. Of course, they are trapped creatures, so they dutifully take the tapes with them when they wish to attend and interview, and Blix dutifully refuses to conduct the interview as he knows it would be faked to say no WMD.

Spam away, Bill. And also Pm the link to anyone who might be interested. And keep posting here yourself. That's how you make one of these things hit the Hots.

What a screw up. What a gawdawful screw up. WHO talked Bush into going to the UN????
The turkey should be shot.

The US now looks internationally like a bully. If we don't go ahead, we look like coward. The f**king French look like the voice of reason. Tony Blair, PM of our strongest and best ally, stands to lose his job soon if this keeps up. And every British PM from then on will think of that if we ask for their aid again.

Those jerks in al Qaida and the other terrorist outfits must be having parties every night as this plays out.

I hate to say it, but Bush and his administration really screwed up. One term President.

You notice what dominstes the Hots these days? Don't Start The War. Which is the biggest war zone around.

Trouble is, if want strictly a leftist persuasion, that is a problem. They tend to agree too much.

Personally, I'm slightly to the left of Pinochet, Hitler, and Genghis Khan. :-)

Lazarus. Well, We all know how left Stalin was, liken me to stalin, faithful leftist that he was, he was not much different from those running dogs and imperialistic lackeys of Burma Road shaving cream vendors that you are left of.
In truth, my views agree with few leftists at all point, agree with few rightists either.
I find some bits of either camp to be agreeable, and some bits not agreeable. I look at views like a smorgasbord, pick the views you like.
Of course, doctrinaire leftists want you to eat at their place only, with their menu, which never changes, and is never fresh and you cannot eat all you want, the bosses have taken the lions share. Ever wonder why these so called leftists paradises have these nests of equals in charge. Of course, we all know some people are more equal than others, don't we.
