About 15 years ago a big one was predicted for the New Madrid Fault so I signed up for it.

Apparently, the forecasts are inconclusive as they vary all over the map, so to speak and no pun intended.

All I got out of it was every thousand years or so, a big-time earthquake and every couple of hundred years, a liquefaction event.

The best forecast is an animal. When they get nervous you know one is on the way.

I have heard the same thing... although when we had the one earlier this year, our cats didn't show any signs - but of course the epicenter was a couple of hundreds of miles away.

Yeah, right. Although we do have some wild horses that always seem to get to our apples before we do. I thought they were deer at first.

Well they look like them but I can't tell - maybe mules for all I know or even deer. I live next to Quiet Waters Park and it has such critters in it that somehow wander over here.

Your area I'd go with deer. Horses weight about 1,000 pounds and leave deep prints.

Could be - there are no prints...
