Maybe I misunderstood your question. Do you mean computers linked by ethernet or some network?

That would be too inefficient. The microprocessors need to talk to each other constantly - they need to be close to each other, like on the same board. And they need to be connected with high-speed lines. Ideally, you would like to put them all on the same chip - but that is wasteful and expensive.

The key to the new supercomputer is providing basic highly-optimized software or software library like Linpack that can make easy and efficient use of the supercomputer. And the microprocessors must be able to talk to each other with fast signal lines. I'm sure there are a whole lot of other issues that I'm not aware of. Most of this is my best guess.

I think you have given me the answer i am looking for that a software program can tie the processors into working as one unit. Ideally i guess if one can work around the infinitesimal delay factor in communicating. perhaps the importance lies in the ability to act in unison when solving a problem.

I hope i made sense.

Thanks for starting this board. A revival of Cray would be quite a feat.

mj, I am out of CRAY at this moment. I think the demand for the products may be hampered with a slowdown in spending by the government and universities.

CRAY rated new Strong Buy at Cowen
SG Cowen said it initiated coverage on Cray with a Strong Buy rating. Company has good backlog visibility into next year.

Also saw a recommendation by Needham. I sold my stock; however, may go back in when i can sell another position.

The new stock sales at $6.20 gives the co. more capital and would appear to give a floor for CRAY in price. Of course those who bought at $6.20 may be looking to turn a shortterm profit.
