Re: Cool!

Ahem, TLC, You are reminding me of a greatly missed portion of the San Francisco Chronicle's Herb Caen column.

Now there were segments of Caenfetti that we all enjoyed such as the feature called NamePhreaks, which highlighted such illuminati as an accountant by trade and 1990's winner of the World Series of Poker: Chris Moneymaker.

Additionally, as a talented wordsmith, it was Caen who invented the term "beatnik", sfgate.com

That said, however, there is one Department in Caen's columns that you clearly remind me of this morning. And, of course it should go without saying that this would be the

"Unclear On The Concept Department"

Are you frankly suggesting that it's "Cool" that our government has been hijacked by "Big Money"? One is left in a state of ambivalence and uncertainty about your sincerity in this matter, considering your previous diffidence toward the notion that the government has, over time, conspired to murder its own citizens in order to affect public opinion.

Now, if you are a rational patriot, an assumption I can't quite fully endorse at present, you'll find this URL to be presenting a tremendous amount of well deserved sarcasm toward the reign of moronity which has sadly come to dominate this nation:

patriotboy.blogspot.com

If, on the other hand, you have succumbed be an obsequious minion of moronity, you might not quite "get" or feel comfortable with this level of satire.

Just a friendly inquiry here....which camp do you find yourself in, cool sir?

Cordially, A Left Coaster

Please forgive me for my brevity.

I meant only that I found it good that we are in "complete agreement"(in your words).

I think it's much more important to find the things that people agree upon than it is to continuously discuss things that people do NOT agree on.

I think it's good we agree on something! So again I say, "Cool!".

Re: I think it's <i<much more important to find the things that people agree upon than it is to discuss things that people do NOT agree on, since everyone is different.

Again, we'll disagree. I think it is much more important that people find things on SI that educate and inform them.
Mere agreement and groupthink are anathema to advancement. My great fear is that George Bush's success is caused by a vast lack of knowledge and insight among the No-Nothing Party types who infect these threads with a level of moronity I find equally fascinating and appalling.

The Founding Fathers knew that democracy could not survive without an educated and well-informed public, so they set about to educate and inform. The Bush Family knows that democracy can not survive without and educated and well-informed public, so they set out to destroy education and information.

Cool, huh?

I do like a fella who can take in the all the facts and still remain firmly attached to utter indecision. Just in the same way I like many other invertebrates. Broiled, grilled, sauteed, stewed and skewered.

LOL! Spoken like a true mammal!

I'm sorry but I'll have to pass on getting into an argument.

I'm in the middle of taking a break and watching MST3K "Revenge of the Creature".
