If you are buying and holding xom for 30 years and re-investing the dividends. You should expect 3-5 stock splits and retire with a couple of million dollars. Xom gets treated like a dog in the news and by most money managers. It doesn't have huge swings just a steady eddy. They probably own more natural gas reserves than some of the biggest nations in the world. They can produce oil for about 6 - 10.00 a barrel . They own most of the deepwater leases in the Gulf of Mexico. They have some of the best engineers in the industry . At times selling there Technology. Let someone else prove it. Then go and buy the Co. out. They have been around for 100 yrs and will be around another 100. they only hire the top 4% of a class out of some of the most Technologically advanced colleges. They cut there teeth with xom and then move on to better pay. It is one of the safest , well managed co. in the world.

China is engaged in central planning. Unlike US companies which plan their businesses for short term quarterly profits to allow their management to dump their stock to the public and skate off with the loot, China plans far in advance for 5, 10 and even 20 years out. You have no idea why they have built those cities. Why have we built what are currently empty cities underground? Perhaps they have similar reasons for building their new cities, or perhaps they are simply planning on moving a portion of their population later.
You read way too much BS and are ignoring the fact that major industrial corporations from all over the world are scrambling to get more and more involved in China at the same time they are moving their businesses out of the US. GE is one of the latest examples as they have decided to move their imaging business to China. GM is another one. They recently moved their international HQ to Shanghai.
Stop reading ultra right wing crap sites and learn the truth about the empowerment of Asia. Maybe you should listen to Jim Rogers from time to time. He has a pretty good track record of figuring out long term business trends and is very bullish on China for the next 50 years. So bullish, in fact that he moved his family to Singapore so his daughters could learn to speak Mandarin and get ready for the future.

They could lose 100 million and still not scratch the surface. lol They have close to 1.5 billion people and only brought about 350 to 400 million of them into the mainstream of economic life. You obviously have no idea what is going on in China. They are building the most modern infrastructure in the world there and have made it very attractive for the world's companies to want to relocate there. In addition, they have made substantial inroads into Africa & South America and now control important natural resources. While we run around bombing other nations and blowing up our budget with military expenditures, they have used their new found wealth to acquire important assets.

Very true. Now they are coming to drill 6 oil wells off north cuba in the fl straits. 50 miles from FL...with the fl current humming up the east coast at 3-4 knots. Deeper than the BP blowout in the GOM.
Meanwhile we have a drilling moratorium in the GOM... hundreds of miles out.
