I find gold fascinating, a challenge, and wonderful.

Yes, the current time is also wonderful to live through, and with all the technology and know-how available to us to match wits with the market each by own way, every which way, until we drop off - incredible fun.

Looking forward to every morning, and reluctant to disengage each night.

Gold feels capped, even as it feels like a coiled spring.

Fun.

Waiting for the crisis that so far has not been, and for the bell to ring.

There are so many real issues wrong in the US government wrt to waste and spending and crookedness.. this is like the Martha Stewart red herring to my mind.. looks good to the 99% but the core 1% continues on...

Well yeah, except that there has actually been some decent progress under this administration if you can filter out the GOP bullshit

So I think there is value in at least trying to look like you recognize this billionaire sleaze for what it is and make it appear as though you are aware of the pig behaviour

I'm with no party, and that data is straight from the Treasury via FRED. I don't care what the reasons are why which President had how much debt growth during his term, it's just straight facts.

Make of them what you all will.

Would be interesting to see corresponding military spending.. plus constraints on the president... like Obama has with congress.. Again your system unlike ours gives the top guy less power... which also has its drawbacks.. Many say that's good.. but not looking too good now.. OTOH I still think any kind of democracy (with getting into the I think fruitless, republic democracy debate) simply does not scale well..

They thought as a goal to achieve. Not as an event. At that time, they were not sure they could make it. So they try to unite the continent.

It did not work. You can´t make a single entity in a Africa united. They have to much ingrained tribalism to be able to unite even inside their own borders. As soon as they discover some wealth, the guys on the wealth area want to secede. See Sudan.

But do not forget the English. Always the English. The perfidious English drew the maps putting different people inside a map. Take Nigeria for instance: Yurubas, Hausas and Ibos. See Divide and Rule.

Even a tiny little country like Benin Republic has a couple of different ethnic groups to deal with.

Which actually makes the point even clearer.. If a couple of tribes can't get along within the same border, how will they ever managed to get along on the same continent?

Look at how long it took for Europe to finally act like they were united? And even that's tenuous..
