There are women senators and women governors, and some day there will be a woman president

Agree CB, kinda funny to see two who aren't American arguing this point.

You're right .... we'll have a female president ... we'll have a "minority" president one day .... although, in reality, we're all minorities at some point in time.

Irish Catholics were, and remain, a "minority" and we've had an Irish Catholic president.

KR may think not already having a female or "minority" president is some negative reflection on America ... what would be a negative reflection is having one simply because they are female or a "minority" ....

All in good time .... JB

maybe strangely to you, I dont think of it as a burden. I think of it as an opportunity to be a smartass amongst folks that have lived here since they were born.

Aside from these INS related thingammies, I share the same burden(s) that anybody living in the US does.

No, you don't need to remind me about Indira Ghandi, you mentioned it only a couple of posts ago.-g-

The Ghandi family clearly established a dynasty. The daughter of the great man came to power, and then her son. 39 years of Indian democracy governed by one family.

Not the way we do things here.

Bad hair day up north ?

Not at all. I'm rather enjoying myself.

I don't think KR was taking any shot at America; I think he sees it pretty much the way it is.

He sees America's flaws clearly.

BTW .... I think he'd make a great citizen !!!!

In America, India or Canada.

Precisely Hawk, it's not so much a struggle of Islam vs the western world, as much as it's a struggle over a form of Islam (created and perpetuated by power hungry men), toward the rest of the world.

Radical Islam needs to go through its "reformation". The process can start from the top, from the bottom, or from an outside entity. But begin it must. How the Iraqi government is formed, how it evolves, and how it ensures basic human rights for its citizens, will be a watershed event if pulled off successfully.

Building a democracy in Iraq, where the rights of all Iraqi citizens are valued, is the most important goal facing coalition forces now.

Despite the marches in Baghdad, my instinct tells me they will pull it off. A democracy in the heart of the Middle East will change so much over time.

perhaps u forget to recollect that the "great family" was instrmental in to movement of freedom for India. But when Indira Gandhi f'd up, the Indians had a taste of self-governance, and they tossed her out of power. She had to earn her right to be in power later.

I don't think it's strange that Americans don't know the 13th Amendment. I am a lawyer and can't remember all the Amendments by number. Have no idea at this minute what the 17th did, for example, nor the 12th.

Bet if Kumar asked whether slavery was unconstitutional, he'd get 100% correct answers.
