I think that for many Americans, the upcoming Summer Games in Athens are going to be a rude shock along these lines. Unfortunately, the degree of anti-US sentiment may truly shock some of us.

Nice job GWB!! Especially his closing comments about the two visions that are competing within the Middle East..

And thank you for a nearly perfect delivery, and avoiding smirking or grinnin during a somber moment...

Now go back to the White House and practice saying "Abu Ghraib" 500 times... ;0)

Unfortunately, the degree of anti-US sentiment may truly shock some of us.

And that shocks you? If anything, it should really make people fear what ideologies are taking root in Europe.

But of course, you're ashamed of any American goal of trying to create democracy and economic prosperity to the Middle East..

Personally, I could care less what some minority group of Europeans think about Americans. I'll just stop buying their products or traveling in their countries.

I have the confidence that our goals, if not always our means, are correct and absolutely necessary to progress in the region, as security for the entire world.

Typical hawk McCartyite tactics.

I deeply regret the decisions of our leadership. It doesn't diminish my patriotism one iota.

The road to hell is paved with your good intentions. I'll take competence.

Do you think that Bush and company bear no responsiblity for what has transpired?

Unortunately your buddy was sent to Iraq not for America's security, but so that Israel could keep expanding without facing even minimal resistance. There isn't anyone, not even semi-morons who claim that the US is occupying Iraq for wmd's. It is there to install a puppet government to be friendly to Israel. Full morons still cling to that claim.

"The second mistake I think history will record is that the strategy was flawed. I couldn't believe what I was hearing about the benefits of this strategic move. That the road to Jerusalem led through Baghdad, when just the opposite is true, the road to Baghdad led through Jerusalem. You solve the Middle East peace process, you'd be surprised what kinds of others things will work out.

Now, in a new book about his career, co-written with Tom Clancy, called "Battle Ready," Zinni has handed up a scathing indictment of the Pentagon and its conduct of the war in Iraq.

In the book, Zinni writes: "In the lead up to the Iraq war and its later conduct, I saw at a minimum, true dereliction, negligence and irresponsibility, at worse, lying, incompetence and corruption."

.............

Zinni is talking about a group of policymakers within the administration known as "the neo-conservatives" who saw the invasion of Iraq as a way to stabilize American interests in the region and strengthen the position of Israel. They include Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz; Undersecretary of Defense Douglas Feith; Former Defense Policy Board member Richard Perle; National Security Council member Eliot Abrams; and Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

Zinni believes they are political ideologues who have hijacked American policy in Iraq.

And the Chinese haven't blamed every problem of theirs on the existence of Taiwan.

Look where they are today compared to the days of Chairman Mao, and without "Oil Money", and with Taiwan still there !

<<But people listening to this speech tonight, and in future days/weeks have an expectation that he must deal with the matter with a solemnity, but also with a tone that inspires and reassures them.>>

And so it waa done, to the great appreciation of his audience.

We have heard the plan, with the proposed dates if applicable, and there has been little change.

Oh, I see, somebody wants the DETAILS so they can be presented in the news to fill in those vacant columns, and disected. Well most of those details will now be worked out by the Iraqis, so from now on the Press can do better by talking to the IGC.

But obviously nobody is interested in how the Iraqi government is progressing or we would hear a lot more about that. No, with the Press, its back to counting the bombings and casualties. And finding the guilty Parties.

h0db... take a read of this link and the email from a US servicemember fighting Sadr's militia..

You might even learn something about what it takes to lead men into battle someday..

Hey, I deeply regret the decisions of our leadership in not overthrowing Saddam back in 1991 and possibly having avoided this friggin' war in the first place.

But hey, that's the hand we've been dealt... And we're going to make mistakes, misjudgements, if not display incompetence at times. Our leaders are not infalliable..

Do I think this war could have been handled better? Sure.. hindsight is 20/20..

But do I believe that the stated mission goal was a mistake?

Hardly.. And we have more to do once Iraq is stabilized (and it will be if defeatists such as yourself quit trying to pull the rug out from under your fellow servicemembers)..

If you'll recall your history, almost every war the US has been engaged in has had comparable mistakes and misjudgements. But we learned from our mistakes, grabbed a few lucky breaks (like Midway), and managed to ultimately win the war.

Quit criticizing the past and start being responsible for implementing the future. If you're not happy, then tell us how you'd wage this war and what you're willing to suggest.

That's your problem Sarwad.. You won't acknowledge Arab expansionism, but you'll immediately focus upon those nasty Jews..

Just like you can't acknowledge Syria has occupied Lebanon for the past 25 years....

Millions of Arabs can die at the hands of other Arab governments and you'll hardly whimper out a complaint.

But let a few thousand Palestinians die (along with over 1000 Jews), and you're flung into a full-fledged tirade..

All that matters is what those nasty Jews are doing...

And you know something Sarwad, all of the dictators and totalitarian Monarchs of the region really appreciate your dedication to such "correct thinking"...

They wouldn't stand a chance of remaining in power without fools like buying into their propaganda...

Hawk,

Let me get this straight - you hate Europe, but love the Middle East? Are you nuts?
