You trolls do get around. Worthless, the lot of you. Let me guess, you think it takes balls to anonymously bother people on the net. How ridiculous you are.

As a follow-up to the Balkan travel show, I pulled out the DVD for "No Man's Land" to get my brain back into a Slavic linguistic gear, the foreign language Oscar winner from 2001. In addition to being the only movie I know that spans my particular languages, I forgot what an excellent movie it was. Unlike the later flicks with westerners shooting something in Bosnia, this was by Bosnians and about real Bosnians with the expats just bumbling around on the fringes of their reality (though the French sergeant gives an excellent performance).

Highly recommended if you haven't seen it and worth a second go if you have.

I really liked No Man's Land. I'm sure you've seen Beautiful People- I used to show that as a companion piece with No Man's land to my movie class.

"..pretty sweet movie, at heart- if you can get past the ball cutting off thing."

Your mixture of anatomical metaphors is brilliant. I think I won't be able to get to the heart part. <g>

I can't tell which Michael Palin show you are referring to because you posted a Netflix link, but I assume you are referring to one episode of the eastern Europe one he did a few years ago. I enjoyed that the least of any of the series he has done, because too much of it was about Michael Palin meeting famous people by using his personal fame than about him meeting everyday people. I thought it was still worth watching though.

P.S. I also thought No Man's Land was great.

I did watch the fourth episode of the Framed series I posted about the other and am glad I did, though I would still hesitate to recommend the whole series. I poked around on the net and discovered there are several different cuts, each more disjointed than the other. Really, it should have been two or three episodes rather than four.

I only watched episode 1 of that Palin series; can't say I recall him meeting anyone famous, just a series of locals who helped to provide local color. No idea what the rest of the series is like since going deeper into the Balkans never appealed to me much.

Sdgla,
It has been my experience that, if a person lacks the skills or ability to do something, they usually don't put that lack of ability on display for others. It is easier, and much more defensive, to just throw out snide remarks which divert attention from the inability that is being shielded.
