American Telecasting Announces Acquisition of Cincinnati
Wireless Cable Channels

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- American Telecasting (Nasdaq: ATEL) announced it has entered into a definitive agreement with Cincinnati Wireless Cable, Inc. and other entities to acquire ten wireless cable (MMDS) channels and other subscription television assets serving over 3,000 subscribers in the Cincinnati, Ohio market. The acquisition will provide American Telecasting access to a market with approximately 750,000 households. Total consideration for the
purchase will be approximately $5.2 million, of which $2.2 million has been paid.

Robert D. Hostetler, president and CEO of American Telecasting, stated, "We are pleased with the acquisition of channels in the Cincinnati market. The acquisition complements our purchase of the
BTA (basic trading area) rights for Cincinnati in March 1996. It is also consistent with our strategy of clustering operating systems in neighboring areas in order to achieve operational and marketing
economies of scale." American Telecasting currently operates wireless cable systems in Columbus, Ohio, Louisville, Kentucky, as well as other Midwest markets.

American Telecasting, Inc. is the largest operator of wireless cable television systems in the United States, serving approximately 175,000 subscribers in 39 markets. Wireless cable television systems
use microwave frequencies licensed by the FCC to provide multiple-channel subscription television programming. Along with its commitment to delivering high levels of customer service, American Telecasting offers value programming packages by pricing its products lower than its franchise cable and direct broadcast satellite competitors.

To all: I've been following this one for about 4 months now. Common sense tells me a buy-out would make more sense to Bell/Nynex. Am I alone on this? Pros and Cons anybody?

Back in May (better days) I made far and away my best move ever picking up 5k in CAWS calls which two days latter were worth 40K at market open. I was greedy and ended up with around 15K. Still my best trade ever.

Should we load up on calls again here??

I just took a look and Sept. 10's are at a 1/2 buck. If these buy recs are for real then what an opp!!!!!!

Brian, the logic for a buy-out certainly is there. But what price per share do you think that would happen at? I think CAWS has great potential as itself, also, and bought in at 17, which makes me quite nervous. (Anyone wanting to take profits by selling at the very top of a market can just watch me and sell when I buy!)

I've been saying this since the demo--see Scott's great post of Friday where he states the case pretty well ie:it would not pay for the Bells to have CAWS as amiddle man expense[and frankly I've always said that's why John Prisco is on board-for a transitional agent to the Bells at the right time]

TO ALL: IF WE DO NOT START THE PUSH ITS GOING TO PASS US BY--Scott's post made me think of how to make the Bells get off the fence. This morning I called NYNEX and asked for the "wireless cable with the internet".They had no clue as to what I was talking about but I kept at it and said that I had read about it in the newspaper.I was put on hold and the represnitive got her boss[just what I wanted].I put the same question to her,shr knew nothing and then she asked me about it[perfect].I proceeded to basicly sell CAWS to her.She listened and said she would get back to me on Monday. I then call the bussiness number for NYNEX and went through the same think with them and they too would get back to me on Monday.THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TO DO TO GET SOME WIND GOING UP THE CHAIN-OF-COMMAND.I'M ALSO GETTING MY OFFICE STAFF ON MONDAY TO MAKE THE SAME TYPE OF CALLS.IF WE ALL START CALLING YOU KNOW AS WELL AS I SOMEBADY WILL START PAYING ATTENTION---LETS DO IT NOW AND PUSH THE BELLS INTO ACTION
