Solyndra: Toxic President Uses Taxpayer Money to Line Pockets of His Toxic Cronies Who Leave Behind a Toxic Building Full of Hazardous Waste

The story of Obama’s presidency in one sentence. The story below addresses the building only.

MILPITAS (CBS 5) — Three months ago, CBS 5 caught Solyndra tossing millions of dollars worth of brand new glass tubes used to make solar panels. Now the bankrupt solar firm, once touted as a symbol of green technology, may be trying to abandon toxic waste. . . .

Meanwhile the next phase of the company’s liquidation is under way. It involves getting rid of all the heavy metals left inside the building that were used to make the panels.

The Fremont Fire Department’s Jay Swardenski oversees the cleanup. He said some materials, such as cadmium, are toxic, and hard to dispose of.

“They don’t degrade at all, so we want to make sure we don’t allow these materials to get into the environment,” he said.

It’s not just the leftover hazardous materials, but also the machinery used to apply them to the glass tubes. “Certainly those tools will need to be decontaminated, cleaned up, handled correctly as they are taken apart,” he said.

Swardenski told CBS 5 the disposal process is going smoothly in Fremont, but what about nearby Milpitas? Solyndra leased a building on California Circle for the final assembly of its solar panels. But the cleanup at the leased building in Milpitas is in limbo, because Solyndra doesn’t want to pay.

CBS 5 found the building locked up, with no one around. At the back, a hazardous storage area was found. There were discarded buckets half filled with liquids and barrels labeled “hazardous waste.”

The building’s owner, a company called iStar, claimed in court documents, “there may be serious environmental, health and safety issues” at the premises. According to the documents, they include, “numerous containers of solvents and chemicals. . . and processing equipment contaminated with lead.”

“Essentially it looks like they left a pretty big mess behind,” San Jose State Assistant Professor Dustin Mulvaney told CBS 5. Mulvaney has written a white paper ( .pdf) on solar industry waste for the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition. . . .

“Materials labeled hazardous waste require a lot more protocol, so its actually a lot more expensive to clean,” Mulvaney said. “It’s very sad looking at this facility taken apart like this, because a lot of money went into building this.”

>> running Bain capital is nothing close to leading the complexities of POTUS....don't be simplistic

Yet, you seem fine with Obama, who had never done anything IN HIS LIFE -- you were counting on on the job training.

So, three years later, we get idiotic gaffes like giving away the store to Putin.

I can assure you Romney would not make such an idiotic blunder as that.

Cybill Shepherd Willing to Die Protesting the War On Women

By Mark Donahue
NEW YORK – A defiant Cybill Shepherd shocked “CBS This Morning” television viewers Friday when she announced she would not be wearing a bulletproof vest when she marches on Washington to protest the war on women. Stunned viewers sat open mouthed, some admitted weeping while others sought counsel from clergy. One woman has already begun a drive to raise funds to pay for Cybill Shepherd’s hospital and/or funeral costs, asking donors to dig deep so that when Shepherd is shot her grown children can take a Caribbean cruise in her memory.

It didn’t take long before comparisons to Martin Luther King began escalating. A source close to Shepherd said the actress is studying Dr. King’s teachings in preparation for her own demise at the hands of an assassin.

“Cybill is not just Martin Luther King, but she’s also Bobby Kennedy, John Kennedy and Tupac Shakur,” the source boasted. “She’s a remarkable example of a fearless crusader willing to put herself in harm’s way to safeguard women from the reprehensible attacks on their freedoms.”

The actress told “CBS This Morning” anchor Gayle King that abortion is a constitutional right and that birth control should be available to everyone. “I’m going to lead the next march on Washington and I’m not going to wear a bulletproof vest … and my mother is scared for me,” she exclaimed before Gayle King cut her off.

Cybill Shepherd’s willingness to forgo a bulletproof vest has invigorated women around the country, young and old, to join the fight.

“To me, Cybill Shepherd is more like Rosa Parks than Martin Luther King or Tupac Shakur,” NYU student Brittany Cook told the Daily Rash,“because she’s not a man, she’s a woman. And because she is unwilling to stand idle as white Republicans repeal our freedoms – she’s going to be shot.” When asked if she’d ever had an abortion herself the student was unequivocal – “I have not had an abortion yet, but I promise that when Cybill Shepherd is gunned down I’m going to get pregnant so I can get an abortion in her honor. It’s the least I can do.”

Seventy-seven year old Mavis Beanbottom is a retired school teacher in Vermont. Ever since her husband Bert left her for another woman in 1967 Mavis has had an overwhelming urge to fight against something but says she always lacked the courage.

“After seeing Cybill Shepherd’s willingness to leave herself vulnerable to the gunfire that demonstrators against the War on Women have to contend with, I couldn’t help but be uplifted by her grit and courage. So I’ve made a decision to find something I can protest that will get me killed too.”

Mavis admitted afterwards that she may wear a bulletproof vest during her first few protests to help alleviate her insecurities about being shot.

During an appearance on the Maury Povich Show last night Cybill Shepherd was asked by the host if she was at all frightened about being assassinated.

“You know, Maury, we’ve got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn’t matter to me now because I’ve been to the mountaintop. So no, I don’t mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place, but I’m not concerned about that now. I’ve seen the Promised Land from a mountaintop, Maury. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that women will get to the Promised Land. So I’m happy tonight, I’m not worried about anything, I’m not fearing white Republican men. Mine eyes have seen the glory of unfettered abortions and government sanctioned contraception.”

Cybill Shepherd’s publicist told the Daily Rash that the actress is hoping to march on Washington sometime soon, though an actual date has not been set. The publicist added that much to her mother’s chagrin, Cybill Shepherd will be protesting in a hail of gunfire without a bulletproof vest.

"Barack Obama deserves to be re-elected president of the United States," Clinton said, because he has clear objectives for the country and is meeting them.

Actually, because he's a Democrat.

Stephen King: Tax Me, for F@%&’s Sake!

Apr 30, 2012 4:45 AM EDT

The iconic writer scolds the superrich (including himself—and Mitt Romney) for not giving back, and warns of a Kingsian apocalyptic scenario if inequality is not addressed in America.

Chris Christie may be fat, but he ain’t Santa Claus. In fact, he seems unable to decide if he is New Jersey’s governor or its caporegime, and it may be a comment on the coarsening of American discourse that his brash rudeness is often taken for charm. In February, while discussing New Jersey’s newly amended income-tax law, which allows the rich to pay less (proportionally) than the middle class, Christie was asked about Warren Buffett’s observation that he paid less federal income taxes than his personal secretary, and that wasn’t fair. “ He should just write a check and shut up,” Christie responded, with his typical verve. “I’m tired of hearing about it. If he wants to give the government more money, he’s got the ability to write a check—go ahead and write it.”

Heard it all before. At a rally in Florida (to support collective bargaining and to express the socialist view that firing teachers with experience was sort of a bad idea), I pointed out that I was paying taxes of roughly 28 percent on my income. My question was, “How come I’m not paying 50?” The governor of New Jersey did not respond to this radical idea, possibly being too busy at the all-you-can-eat cheese buffet at Applebee’s in Jersey City, but plenty of other people of the Christie persuasion did.

Cut a check and shut up, they said.

If you want to pay more, pay more, they said.

Tired of hearing about it, they said.

Tough shit for you guys, because I’m not tired of talking about it. I’ve known rich people, and why not, since I’m one of them? The majority would rather douse their dicks with lighter fluid, strike a match, and dance around singing “Disco Inferno” than pay one more cent in taxes to Uncle Sugar. It’s true that some rich folks put at least some of their tax savings into charitable contributions. My wife and I give away roughly $4 million a year to libraries, local fire departments that need updated lifesaving equipment (jaws of life are always a popular request), schools, and a scattering of organizations that underwrite the arts. Warren Buffett does the same; so does Bill Gates; so does Steven Spielberg; so do the Koch brothers; so did the late Steve Jobs. All fine as far as it goes, but it doesn’t go far enough.

What charitable 1-percenters can’t do is assume responsibility—America’s national responsibilities: the care of its sick and its poor, the education of its young, the repair of its failing infrastructure, the repayment of its staggering war debts. Charity from the rich can’t fix global warming or lower the price of gasoline by one single red penny. That kind of salvation does not come from Mark Zuckerberg or Steve Ballmer saying, “Okay, I’ll write a $2 million bonus check to the IRS.” That annoying responsibility stuff comes from three words that are anathema to the Tea Partiers: United American citizenry.

Photos: Rich People for Higher Taxes

And hey, why don’t we get real about this? Most rich folks paying 28 percent taxes do not give out another 28 percent of their income to charity. Most rich folks like to keep their dough. They don’t strip their bank accounts and investment portfolios, they keep them and then pass them on to their children, their children’s children. And what they do give away is—like the monies my wife and I donate—totally at their own discretion. That’s the rich-guy philosophy in a nutshell: Don’t tell us how to use our money; we’ll tell you.

The Koch brothers are right-wing creepazoids, but they’re giving right-wing creepazoids. Here’s an example: 68 million fine American dollars to Deerfield Academy. Which is great for Deerfield Academy. But it won’t do squat for cleaning up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, where food fish are now showing up with black lesions. It won’t pay for stronger regulations to keep BP (or some other bunch of dipshit oil drillers) from doing it again. It won’t repair the levees surrounding New Orleans. It won’t improve education in Mississippi or Alabama. But what the hell—them li’l crackers ain’t never going to go to Deerfield Academy anyway. F--k em if they can’t take a joke.

What a great story.

We all have our reasons for seeing the light, but that's a great one.
