Yeah, I'm long a little WDC now too. I was long a bit more WDC before, but then of course it DROPPED SOME MORE!

I have the feeling that, in five years or so, many followers will be kicking themselves
for not buying at these levels - myself included. WDC is a high profile, premier DD
maker. Their drives are highly recommended by people I deal with. I just cannot
believe Western Digital will dissolve into oblivion.

I am tempted and I was thinking the same thing as what you expressed in your last sentence.

And then three tickers came to mind: BOST, IRID, PHL.

All three very high profile companies where equity holders bit the big one.

So WDC has lost money for how many straight quarters now? And it's going to lose over $1 this quarter?

I'm not saying it's going to go bankrupt. I just have to remind myself that companies do go bankrupt.

Hi, J.Y. Wang. I've always thought a persons market experience was less than complete if they had never taken HardKnocks 101, otherwise known as riding a holding to zero.

After taking that real-life course, it brings a whole new perspective to the prospect of a business being a going-concern risk. On the other hand, I would not expect otherwise from a $3 stock. High risk = high reward (or loss).

I think it's positive that WDC is holding $3 1/4 in the wake of it's earnings report. As a matter of fact, I have initiated a large position in the hopes that WDC has indeed hit bottom. Haggerty's tone in the press release was a little more positive that I have seen in recent qtr's as he mentioned large OEMs are evaluating current drives. dditionally, it appears most of the recall issues are close to being resolved. I would expect to see an uptick in revenue next quarter, which is typically the strongest of the year. Not a beautiful picture, but that is why the stock is under $4. A move to $5-$6 would not be surprising over the next few weeks.

After the big drop on the market, WDC did hold on 3 1/4.
It seems to me this stock make a good entry point at this
time. Usually during the holiday, the PCs seems to be sold
well and so does the hard disks. It may continue to drop
to 3 but not much of down side. Do you have any opinion
on this stock ? Let's discuss it. Thank you.

Just got the proxy. They're asking shareholders to autorize an additonal 4M shares for the employee stock purchase plan.

Given what they've done to shareholder wealth, there's no way I'd reward them.

I plan to vote no.

Ian.

Excuse me,,,

I don't even lurk here, (and hope I'm not being redundant) but still own a few WDCs and have just received a "Notice of Dependency & Settlement of Derivative Actions."

I read it the best I could, but I can't for the life of me figure out if this "settlement" means a penny to regular class stockholders --- or only to those who brought this "Derivative" action.

Any help here?

thanks

If this is a settlement of a class action, usually it's only a settlement for those who bought or sold during a certain window of trading.

Isn't that a damn joke? I say "F..." the G.. damn employees, including that SOB Chuck. More than half of them should be fired anyway. They need to turn this boat around, otherwise we are history. What a POS management, which it goes along with the POS market segment.
