My university was swarming with them. Unfortunately, they were the faculty and difficult to avoid. PW.

that is a very interesting point.

here is a very simple plot to cripple US market:

stock market's engine is technology stock,
and technolog stock's engine is MSFT,
and MSFT's engine is Bill Gates.

if for some reasons, Bill Gates resigned, or removed from
MSFT,or kidnapped, MSFT's stock will crahsh,
tech stock will crash, and stock market will crash.
you can be very profitable if you have some put or
short position.

Hollywood should love this plot.

Lesson of the century...never underestimate Microsoft. I have gone long on MSFT and will remain so until this stock strikes $200/share.

Next year will be record earnings for this company as the NTS wave hits more corporate sites and users upgrade thier workstations to either one of NT or Win 98. Win CE is also taking a foothold as is their voice recognition software. MSFT has got it all.....no if, and or buts.

Go MSFT !!! Nothing can come in your way with the DOJ out of the way.

TO ALL

I read in a Swiss banking publication that MSFT may announce an
split in early 1998. The artcle said the shares have reached a historically high level beyond which the investors are not propared to
pay. So, MSFT has made an internal decsion for the split that will be
announced in early 1998.

I like to know if anyone can comment on this matter.

Thanks in advance,

Yaacov

No split likely. Once at buying levels ($70's range), many investors will start flipping this stock back and fourth and something no company likes have done with its stock. Keeping it at the $130's - $140's level prevents speculators from "playing" with the stock price.

Keep in mind that MSFT pays its employees by stock options. Dissapoint them and you dissapoint the employees. Best for MSFT to keep it this high for at least another 8 - 12 months.

Be careful on MSFT. Its lofty pe can not afford disapointing the street estimate like ORCL. MSFT usually beat estimate. It could drop even more severe than ORCL if it DOES disappoint the street sometime.

Just my 2 cent thought.

Yea, they probably don't want to split since the stock will probably just double again. That 28 Billion is debt turns to 56 Billion.

If I were you guys, I'd be cheerleading for a 4 for 1 split. Didn't EDS command a PE of 85 in its Nifty Fifty days?

According to the 10-Q, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997,
Microsofts revenue from markets outside U.S,Canada and Europe
was 538 million. Total revenue for that fiscal year was 3,130 million.
That is 17 percent! Could microsoft suffer the same fate as
Oracle? According to Zack's, mean estimate for msft next earnings
is .82, low is .77. In this climate, it wont take much of a miss
to disappoint investors
