>>At least I'll feel good about losing the money that way

Give it to a non-profit organization and then at least you'll be able to itemize the deduction on your Schedule A 1040 form! :^)

We are close to a major bottom. The volume is not there today, but next Monday, we can have a huge black Monday that sends DOW to 7200 or 7600. I'd like to see volume 3 b and 4 b at Big board and NAZ. A major rebound should likely follow. This is getting sad and ridiculous. This is much worse than Nikkei.

BLACK FRIDAY

When Black Friday comes
I'll stand down by the door
And catch the grey men when they
Dive from the fourteenth floor
When Black Friday comes
I'll collect everything I'm owed
And before my friends find out
I'll be on the road
When Black Friday falls you know it's got to be
Don't let it fall on me

Geez... you're not out trying to win new friends are you? <g/ng>

...this week it will be two years for me since I decided to bail. I still remember the call to my broker and how I felt... all empty... and how SI was so hostile...

You think property devaluation is next? If that happens, we're in a world of hurt. NASD following '29 DOW with uncanny similarity. That'd make us about 2x overvalued right here. Your 600 NASD target, while frightening, isn't out of the question.

I really hope we don't go there.

IMHO, anything that the oracle from Omaha
suggests should become the "lay of the land"!
If expensing stock options reduces net profit,
then so be it. At least the small investor (such
as myself) would get a much better picture of
the companies books than I have now.
Take care one and all!

Thank you Jake! NYCB's "talk" could/should
be constituted as "puffery".

Saw something like this back in '87.
May see what happened after this "BIG
BREAKDOWN". IMHO, hang in there, if
you own equities in solid companies.
The market (NAS) is down now, and will
probably drop further - check tech.
indicators! RE: DOW, I don't have
anything in it (The mutuals I own probably
do), but I take an Alfred E. Newman approach
to them.

After the ninnies have sold off, and the mutuals
quit selling big ticket, big trading stocks in
order to cover redemptions, the market will
recover.

Meanwhile, lurk in the bushes, and buy at a steal
those afore mentioned big ticket, big trading stocks.

Take Care one and all!

Working on it. I have been saving up a bunch of cash and haven't put it into the market. It's just been sitting in my checking account and it's outperforming the market. LOL. My plan is to sell all the Cisco shares I currently own sometime around earnings release. Then with that money and all the cash I have, I'll start dollar cost averaging into my well allocated financial planning account through Sept and Oct. Although, Bambs and NYCBoy made some good calls and then have thoroughly enjoyed calling everyone else idiots, and although they believe the market still has a long way to go down, and although I think that's not out of the question either, I still think that it's too hard to catch the bottom. Therefore, I'll pump money in through these down years, realizing I don't need the money for the next 10 years, and hope that we don't have a Japan style recession. If we don't, I will be ready to retire in 10 years. If we do, I'll have to tack another 10 years onto my work life. In the mean time, I'll just enjoy my family and keep on keeping on. :)
