The numbers looked really good to me, and to others in the industry that I spoke to. What issues did you have? Can it be that the deposit is in the NWT and not ONT?

I too noticed the smell, but came to a different conclusion than you. There is a very strong smell around most sulphide deposits. In some Scandinavian countries they use dogs to find sulphide-rich rocks. This smell can bring tears to your eyes. To a geologist and miner, they're tears of joy. To an investor it's the smell of money. To the uninitiated and naive it just smells.

Came across this interesting link a few days back. Perhaps it's relevant.

otcjournal.com

It reviews trading strategies for microcap stocks (<US$200 million market cap). Perhaps someday we'll be large enough to be called microcap?

FORTUNE MINERALS ANNOUNCES NICO DRILL RESULTS

Fortune Minerals is pleased to report results of eleven holes recently received from its summer drill program on the NICO cobalt-gold-bismuth deposit, located 160km northwest of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Significant intersections for holes NICO-00-236 to ¡V246 are compiled in the appended table. The holes were targeted by Strathcona Mineral Services Limited (Strathcona) as part of their ongoing economic evaluation of the deposit. Many of the current holes were drilled to extend the deposit up the projection of dip in order to reduce waste rock stripping. Others were drilled to confirm the continuity and evenness of grades within the center of the deposit to reduce internal dilution.

The recently received results continue to meet the Company¡¦s expectations. Several holes intersected mineralized lenses within a few metres of surface accomplishing one of the principal objectives of the program. Notably, hole NICO-00-236 achieved a grade of .13% cobalt and .17% bismuth over a 29.6m true width starting at 1.2m below surface. Similar results approximating the deposit average grade were also intersected in other holes within a few metres of surface.

Drilling continues to encounter the highest grades within the central core of the deposit. Hole NICO-00-241 intersected 25.7m averaging .17% cobalt, 1.45g/t gold and .17% bismuth in the Middle of three lenses typically encountered within the deposit. The hole also returned grades of .30% cobalt, 1.82g/t gold and .29% bismuth over 9.7m in the Lower Lens, including values up to 1.08% cobalt and 12.64g/t gold over 1m. Hole -241 was drilled at an angle such that true widths are 98% of the core intersections.

The current phase of drilling at NICO was recently completed. Assays are being received from the remaining seven holes of the program and will be released as they become available. Strathcona will then re-estimate the NICO resources and update the economic evaluation of the deposit. In compliance with proposed National Instrument 43-101, Strathcona is an independent consulting company acting as ¡§Qualified Person¡¨ and advising Fortune on the exploration of NICO. Assays are being conducted at ALS Chemex Labs Ltd. and Lakefield Research Limited.

It is the operating partner in the NICO and Sue-Dianne deposits and has interests in other base and precious metals and diamond exploration projects. These are good numbers, and include some of the best cobalt intersections we've seen.

In any resource company, there are stages where only certain events will move the stock price. In ascending order, you need:

a. first, the acquisition of a hot property, then
b. only good grab samples, then
c. only a good drill hole, then
d. only clusters of good drill holes, then
e. only good resource numbers, then
f. only good pre-feasibility numbers, then
g. only good feasibility numbers, then
h. only good permitting and or finance news, then
i. only good development news, then
j. only good production figures.

A company that has moved to an advanced stage rarely can improve its share price by announcing something in the early stages. Fortune has moved to stage (e) or (f). Even spectacular news at the a, b, or c level, or really good numbers at the d level will ot make too much difference in the share price. I think we've seen really good numbers, and a complete absence of bad news. What more could we ask for? I'll watch for the next stage, and improvement in the resource numbers, or good pre-feasibility figures. Good news at the (g) and (h) level could be explosive.

FORTUNE MINERALS REPORTS SUCCESFUL NICO DRILL PROGRAM

Fortune Minerals announces results of the
remaining holes from its recently completed
summer drill program on the NICO
cobalt-gold-bismuth deposit, located
160km northwest of Yellowknife,
Northwest Territories.
Significant intersections for holes
NICO-00-247 to –252 are compiled in the
appended table and were drilled as part
of a 35-hole program targeted by
Strathcona Mineral Services Limited (
Strathcona). Fortune is pleased to report
that all of the objectives of the
program were successfully accomplished,
including:
1) near-surface expansion of the deposit
in order to reduce waste rock stripping,
2) lateral expansion of the gold-rich,
central core of the deposit along the
projection of dip, and
3) verification of the continuity and
evenness of grade in order to minimize
internal dilution. Results are currently
being entered into the Company's drill hole
database after which Strathcona will
re-estimate the resources and revise
their economic evaluation of the deposit.
Fortune will advise at a later date when
it expects these studies to be completed.

The most recent drill hole results include
high-grade intersections of .43% cobalt
and 1g/t gold over a 10.6m true width
in hole –249, .24% cobalt and .29% bismuth
over a 23.4m true width in hole –250,
and .23% cobalt and 3.6g/t gold
over a 15.9m true width in hole –252.
Narrower sections within the latter
large interval returned high-grade cobalt
concentrations up to 1.43% over 2m and
gold up to 32.6g/t over 1m. Most of
the holes also intersected multiple
stacked lenses, including hole –251,
which encountered cobalt values
approximating the deposit average over
true widths of 11.2, 40.4 and 35.7m
within the "Upper", "Middle" and "Lower"
lenses, respectively. Chip sampling
was also carried out concurrent
with the drilling in order to extrapolate
shallow intersections to surface where
applicable. An exploration hole drilled
on a geophysical target on the opposite
side of Lou Lake did not intersect
significant mineralization.

Fortune Minerals is an exploration
company with diverse interests in
projects in the Northwest Territories
and Ontario. It is the operating partner
in the NICO and Sue-Dianne deposits
and has interests in other base and
precious metals and diamond exploration
projects. Fortune is the operating
partner in
Formosa Environmental Aggregates Ltd.,
an industrial Mineral development company.
In compliance with proposed
National Instrument 43-101, Strathcona
is an independent consulting company
acting as "Qualified Person" and advising
Fortune on the exploration of NICO.
Assays are being conducted at ALS
Chemex Labs Ltd. and Lakefield Research Limited.

This is getting to be too predictable. Predictable in that you and I are the only posters, with Farmboy saying something nasty every once and a while.

Also, too predictable in that Fortune continues to put out good numbers. The latest drilling targeted by their consultants have resulted in:

1) near-surface expansion of the deposit in order to reduce waste rock stripping,
2) lateral expansion of the gold-rich, central core of the deposit along the projection of dip, and
3) verification of the continuity and evenness of grade in order to minimize internal dilution.

The most recent drill hole results include high-grade intersections of .43% cobalt and 1g/t gold over a 10.6m true width in hole –249, .24% cobalt and .29% bismuth over a 23.4m true width in hole –250, and .23% cobalt and 3.6g/t gold over a 15.9m true width in hole –252.

These are really nice-looking drillholes. We're told that they're infill holes, or near to previous holes that had fairly good results, so it is not entirely unexpected. It should give Fortune's consultants some numbers to work with. Hopefully in a few months we'll see some grade and tonnage numbers for a minable resource, that will include some estimates on:

various tonnes and grades
strip ratios
extraction / dilution
recovery

Things are progressing well.

Dave
