Virginia Tech's Lane, Brodie and Rasche halls, Blacksburg.
Demolition has been proposed for these three buildings, constructed between 1888 and 1900, in the Upper Quad section of the campus.

I posted this on the Commandant of Cadets Facebook page, asking if it was accurate. I sure hope this is wrong. Lane Hall, especially, is an historic building. I'll follow up if I hear anything.

Here is the Commandant's reply on Facebook:

Commandant, Corps of Cadets, Virginia Tech
Thanks for your note, Greg. The university is planning to engage in a design competition on how to meet the needs of a modern, growing Corps on the Upper Quad. We are looking at how best to manage the preservation of Lane Hall while seeking opportunities for expansion for such things as a Corps Museum, classrooms, and the staffs of both the Corps and the ROTCs. With regards to residence halls, we already are expecting to exceed the number of normal bedspaces on the Upper Quad this fall! That fact, coupled with the significant deterioration of the existing structures means the architects will have to take a hard look at what is possible in the geographic area of the Upper Quad while preserving key attributes like the V-T, etc. Our cadets deserve decent places to live and work and we are hopeful that the competition will yield ideas that enable us to honor the past while building for the future.

They must like those Virginia boys. Bradshaw went to high school one block away from my mom's house. The Graham G men. The offensive coordinator lived next door to her. Hite never recruited Bradshaw because he ran too "upright" . I begged Hite to look at him, he said he wasn't a good student either so "let UVA have him he saidlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

I hope everyone with season tickets has reseated successfully. I'll have to admit the manner in which new seats were allocated was done in a very fair manner.

Really big commit from Kendall Fuller @ the corner back spot. Saw the films on him. He ran wide out also in high school and was a great returner. I think Rivals has him way up there overall and number one at the corner.. We beat out Clemson.

Oh my.

According to coach Frank Beamer's official site Beamerball.com, the Hokies will wear special white helmets with poultry feet for the "White Effect" game against Austin Peay on Sept. 8, and camouflage uniforms for "Military Appreciation Day" against Bowling Green on Sept. 22.

Major General Stan Musser, USAF

General Musser passed away this morning, a man widely credited with saving the Corps of Cadets ushering in a new era that changed the focus from tearing down cadets to one that emphasizes individual responsibility and building on the strengths of each cadet.

Here is a bio piece on General Musser published in VT Magazine:
