***** TA Update (intra-day) *****

The market is holding on for dear life as the Spx has traded at the correction low near 1390 this week (today's low of 1390) and had a new closing low on Tuesday. It has yet to take out the intra-day low of 1370 but that might be coming today or tomorrow as the market is technically very weak. No capitulation/selling climax is apparent and a breakdown is likely as a result.

The a/d's are about 1/2, with the TRIN just below 1.00 for the NYSE but above 1.00 for the Nasdaq. The u/d vol for the NYSE is about 2/3 while on the Nasdaq is worse, and the u/d vol figures and trend are the best ST signals to watch for the trend. If they worsen considerably today, it could portend the break.

Next leg down would appear to target minor support at 1320 and then at 1270, and possibly major support at 1225.

A break might not be avoidable even with a Bernanke speech today or a rate cut.

So the line in the sand might be 1370 and if it is tested or breached without a selling climax and bullish reversal, the next leg down will be highly probable.

Bulls need to find a way to get this market's SPX to hold for a close above 1390 and an intra-day print of above 1370 if we don't get a selling climax. Triple bottoms are quite rare, another factor that hurts the bulls' chances to prevent another leg down, an impulse move, and a bear market signal.

Crude oil is down sharply today and may move down in sympathy with stocks, with 90 and 86 as support levels. Demand reduction is expected if the U.S. economy enters recession.

1889.....is close enough for me hawkeye. I'm calling that move over....the wave counts I'm looking at tell me the move is over...at least as far I'm reading it.

By that I mean....the ABC corrective wave I was playing in the NDX is finished....the play is over.

I'm not sure if this bounce is countertrend or not. I counted 5 waves up from yesterdays lows...this implies there is still more upside to this move whether countertrend or not.

I'm letting the market give a better read before I make another call or committ bullish or bearish. Sticking to scalping for awhil.

***** TA Update (intra-day) *****

The market internals have improved as have the indices in the last 15 minutes.

The u/d vol figures have improved to where the NYSE is at 5/4 and the Naz is about even now. NYSE TRIN is below 1.00 now.

Shorts are covering and some bargain hunters are buying, as the Bernanke speech is due in the next hour or two.

If this rally can hold, then is it possible we will get a rare triple bottom or will it just be a false rally, leading to a breakdown below support at 1370-1390?

If this rally is to hold, then one would expect bonds to weaken.

SPX is now up 7 at 1416.

Watch the u/d vol figures and TRINs closely if you are trading.

kidl: Thx for posting that link to his two posts. I agree with him in the LT, however, if we breakdown below 1370 Spx, then it will probably drag PBG and most all other stocks down with it. I still like PBG in the LT of course.

THOSE ETF'S are great, but there are a number of ETF'S that are leveraged in Canada apparently .
