Elmer,

Re: "Intel Cheap Ivy Bridge CPU To Face Octocore AMD FX-8120 CPU"

Customers willing to pay more for IB with better performance ... Guess "Parts Ain't Parts".

This is proof of Intel's bribing customers. AMD says their parts are better and the customers should be buying them instead of Intel's.

What more proof do we need?

Elmer,

Re: "This is proof of Intel's bribing customers. AMD says their parts are better and the customers should be buying them instead of Intel's. What more proof do we need?"

INTC has unfair "technical advantage" (process technology) ... DOJ needs to "level" the playing field.

A) Hello! Strawman! Yet Another Fairy Tale for us, Elmer?

B) Didn't you JUST post an article about AMD gaining market share against Intel? You can't even get the premises of your fairy tale right!

DOJ needs to "level" the playing field.

As we all know, a truly level playing field will result in equal results. It is therefore reasonable to simply look at the results and determine the levelness of the playing field, and adjust as needed.

Intel is enjoying better results, therefore it is without question that they are at an unfair advantage. We must take affirmative steps to normalize the results so they are back into balance. Justice in our time!

Who can possibly argue with the reasonableness of this approach?

The article was about Ivy Bridge. Didn't you bother to read it?

I'm paraphrasing AMD here but the jest of it: "AMD says their parts are better and the customers should be buying them instead of Intel's."

There's all the proof you need. AMD said so. Bribery doesn't always come in the form of money. Intel is bribing customers with superior value. If it weren't for the bribe, the customers wouldn't be buying the Intel product. That's a bribe. Customers change their behavior in return for something offered to them, when they wouldn't change their behavior otherwise. Usually it's money that gets them to change their behavior, but Intel, in another attempt to destroy AMD, has resorted to a more diabolical scheme. They've offered something AMD isn't in a position to match.

Boy, there sure is a lot of BS'y whining about the FTC coming out of you Elmer.

Way overblown, over what you purport to call a "slap on the wrist." It's like your strawman fabricator is running open-loop... Suggestive of an inner-struggle.

I hear the ECFI hearing for Intel's appeal is going to last 4 whole days... With half of that being the EC defending its ruling.

I think the kicking and screaming we're seeing here is far from over.

Mr Borusa,

Re: "Thanks for paying attention."

Remove your "blinkers" and pay attention ... INTC at 52 week high.

Sorry, but you're way off base. Why would I need to whine about a handslap? I'm happy with it. It put the matter to rest. The only reason you're happy with it too is because you believe Intel was doing the things they agreed not to do in the future. Sounds like a win/win to me.

My comments were much more along the lines of the EUC thinking. The results define the angle of the playing field and as we know from Neelie's comments, too much market share can not be allowed.
