Of course. But did you see the grandstanding about

"Protecting fair and open competition in the microprocessor market is critical to New York, the United States, and the world. Businesses and consumers everywhere should have the ability to easily choose the best products at the best price and only fair competition can guarantee it."

I think Cuomo has near zero chance in prevailing to:

1) establish his standing for US or World or "everywhere" enforcement.

2) avoid being laughed out of court when trying to say Intel rebates increase costs to consumers. or that innovation in computers has been lacking.

re: But for NY AG to complain about federal issues is pointless and futile.

"to exclude main rival AMD from the worldwide market for computer processing units."

Apparently, Cuomo doesn't think so...

Petz, > If AMD had the billions Intel stole from them 2-5 years ago

LOL, maybe AMD shouldn't be lavishly rewarding their execs for a job not-so-well-done.

How many times has AMD's BoD been voted one of the worst?

Dan, > Now tell me who I can switch to from Intel if AMD goes away.

I think you've come quite a long way if all you have left is this argument.

re: but the suit very obviously does have merit

No. Not by itself, it doesn't. There is merit in finding out why AMD has failed, tho'. This could be good. Rather than a fine and "no admissions of guilt" in the EU, this could be settled pretty quickly since Intel has stated that they have, on a periodic basis, been sharing information with the FTC. They could get the FTC to help Cuomo understand the reasons why the FTC was not interested in pursuing anti-trust. All that is needed is to have someone like Cuomo drop his inquiry (maybe even with some Washington pressure added) and the EU might follow suit. At that point, AMD may be restructuring and if it's extensive enough, they may have to drop the lawsuit as well (much to the dismay of most here)...we'll see how this turns out.

If in fact he doesn't think so then he's an idiot. The federal courts continuously throw out suits for lack of standing. And in the AMD/Intel case a federal court has already ruled and directed that alleged acts outside its jurisdiction to be excluded from the case.

What kind of a statement is that? How about this? The market's first reaction to the bombing of the WTC seems to indicate that that was a bad idea...Sheesh! You expected the stock to rise?
