Your brain must have been deep fried. It is back at $19.59. Nowhere close to your low teen scenario.

Dorry to disappoint you, Intel closed at $18.50, a far cry from the low teens you expected last week.

Intel has been moving about the same as the overall market. How have your stocks done ?

Your Intel closed at $17.27 today - just a few more dollars and it will be in the low teens.

With the markets and the economy in a tail spin, Intel's' huge fixed costs with their huge new factories, coupled with dwindling end-user demand, profits will plummet.

EPS will drop - so the share price will follow it down to keep the EPS in a 'normal' range.

Bitter fact of today's life.

Yes Intel will suffer if the doomsday economic scenario does indeed come about. Several companies will go bust outright, and particularly the weak ones. And a lot of people will lose their jobs and unemployment will skyrocket.

Luckily my Intel holdings are down as much as my non-Intel holdings, and about the same as the general market. Luckily I am not on margin and can ride it out. If the doomsday scenario does indeed happen, the weak competitors will not survive, and the stronger companies will indeed end up with a larger market share. So at the end of it all, it will be OK.

Gee...you are just one lucky dude - feeling lucky, feeling lucky...

When Intel hits, say, $13/share, you are really going to feel lucky - aren't you?

Yeah if and when that happens, a lot of souls are going to be in the soup lines. Yes I will feel lucky because I will have escaped that fate.

....I do not say that in jest. The only stock which did well yesterday was Campbell Soup, because the market has already begun looking forward to Depression Era soup lines.

Intel is now looking up from below at the teens.

What are your thoughts now on this company and its prospects?

What are your thoughts now on this company and its prospects?

..The company will do fine for several more years. Its competitive stance is getting stronger. Yes the world economy is in a downward spiral with the rising unemployment giving rise to lower consumer and business spending, and falling stock prices. No country is immune. I just visited Europe, and everyone is terrified and suffering. Even the oil sheiks are hurting since their income shrinks everyday and their investments are melting.

Yes the economic meltdown hurts me. But the only redeeming part is that I have plenty of company.

The world economy will recover one day, and I do not profess to know exactly when that will happen. Intel will emerge stronger than ever. It has lots of cash, no debt, and plenty of profits to make it thru the lean times. I am not so sure if several other companies will make it thru a prolonged downturn.

Until Intel and the world economy recovers, you can relish the sight of everyone's suffering. Enjoy yourself !
