Yes, indeed. I think it is under control now. We put a bucket under the drip in the family room and collected about a gallon of water. Maybe a little more. The ceiling paint had blistered in a line about two feet long, but now it has pulled back up so painting may be our only repair. We may wait until we start our remodeling.

I'm for replacing all of our toilets with top of the line toilets that don't plug and don't leak.
Good thing you were home when this little problem decided to rear its ugly head.

I call it a trapper's cabin in the woods.

That's called a condo.

We were at a plumbing supply store yesterday looking at toilets, sinks, tubs and faucets. I never thought to ask where the toilets were made, but the one I liked best was a Kohler. BTW when you do replace your toilets hubby told me a little secret. Choose only two piece toilets and get the one with the highest tank. The higher the tank the better the toilet will flush.

Probably the main reason right there.

I'm going to start doing that. Never had a problem with it here before, but fool me once ...

We had water problems up the ying yang in Alaska, which finally turned out to be a fireplace chimney that we weren't even using. Water was seeping through the bricks and mortar of the chimney and creeping along the ceiling until it rained down on the living room. We had the chimney rebuilt, but the mason copied the original design exactly and it too started to leak. We had another mason look at it, and he told us the whole design was improper. It should have been two bricks thick and it was only one.

We had the chimney demolished and put in a metal chimney that lacked the charm of the brick one but did not leak.. We didn't use the fireplace, but we wanted to have it functional for selling the house.

When I stayed at a B&B while transitioning out of my job, the lady showed me a big crack in her rebuilt fireplace. It was built by the first mason, and if we had known each other at the time we could have gone after him.

I have had so many Chinese products fail that I'm no longer willing to buy them if they have any function that must be performed. Decorative products seem to be OK if they just have to look pretty.

I think we will probably go for the Kohler too but haven't done any shopping yet.

Thanks for the tank tip.

Think ahead. Don't replace them all on the same day. You will be very very sorry... and full :)
