Q. 1)
I'm using a 640x480 screen
Bottom of Browser is cut off
Any way to configure DD for screen size??

Q. 2)
Anyway to keep Ticker and Fetching Status selection boxes CHECKED all the time?
I have about 20 threads listed.
Each time I begin to fetch, I need to re-check the boxes.

Yes. The installation program is in it's most
basic incarnation at this stage. I have received this
request from other testers as well.

And, Yes, you want to keep the existing file. I know this
wording is a bit tricky, but this is the default message
provided by the package and deployment wizard that I am
currently using.

There will be an improved installer in the near future.

The DDingo's default startup size needs to be changed to
fit in the 640x480 screen. This will be fixed in the next
release.

You can configure the DDingo's screen size by grabbing any
edge of the main form and re-sizeing it just as any standard
windows form can be re-sized. To grab an edge of the form
move the mouse button over to an edge and the mouse pointer
should change to a double sided arrow. Click and hold the
left mouse button and drag the edge to the location that
you wish. The current release of the DDingo will _not_
'remember' this re-sizing. A release scheduled soon provides
a much improved user interface and does remember all user
re-sizing events.

I'm glad you asked this question. That was how I had the
DDingo at first, but it now clears all of the selections
after a fetching section. Is the latter a better and
prefered way? For the time being, if you click on the
"Ticker and Fetching Status" label/frame that surrounds
the portfolio list, it will toggle all of the
tickers on or off. This also is true of the 'Go Fetch Now'
frame.

Great feature, handles my problem perfectly.. You should have a button at the top which says "Click to Select All"

I'd like to use the Dingo from more than one PC.

The most useful enhancement to Dingo for me would be for it to remember where I left off in a message board, and store that in a central server.

SI and RB already remember your position, as long as you log in properly (although RB doesn't always seem to keep track properly).

For the other boards (or even SI and RB), I would suggest storing a file on a free server, perhaps in the Yahoo briefcase. Dingo would connect to Yahoo and retrieve the file. I don't know if the file can be updated, though, without going through the Yahoo applet.

But there must be other servers that could be used.

Thanks for your efforts.

>I'd like to use the Dingo from more than one PC.

The current plan is to permit anyone who purchases the DDingo to be able use it on multiple machines. Running your DDingo at home and then having a copy running at work will be ok.

>The most useful enhancement to Dingo for me would be for it to remember where I left off in a message board, and store that in a central server.

This is an interesting idea. If I understand, the idea is that although the DDingo's scheduled fetching features will have automatically fetched all of the available messages, the two installed copies need to synchronize which messages and news have not be viewed by either installed copy. It
would not be technically difficult to accomplish this idea,
but it will need to determined how many users would value
this feature.

Kind of related to this subject is a feature
that will be added to the DDingo is synchronization of the
information the DDingo's database with a Palm Pilot Device.
This could cover this suggestion and more.

>I will put it on the 'enhancement idea' list. The www.diligentdingo.com site will soon contain support information. One section of this information will be suggestions of features to add to the DDingo. These ideas can then be discussed for their merit and given priority for addition to the program accordingly.

Is there a way to maximize the message reading screen?? The small message screen size is very limiting.

Also, is there a way to load to screen all the messages and then scroll through all messages at once?

>Is there a way to maximize the message reading screen?? The small message screen size is very limiting.

The current release only permits sizing of the entire form
as an entity. If you increase the size of the form, it will
increase the size of message area. It is recommended that
you run the DDingo with a screen resolution of at least
800x600. There is just too much information to be displayed
to make a 640x480 screen resolution practical.

There will be a release out soon that has a new user
interface, and will permit re-sizeing of indivial section
panes.

>Also, is there a way to load to screen all the messages and then scroll through all messages at once?

No. This is not the model that the DDingo interface uses for displaying messages. I can suggest that a way to speed up your message viewing is by selecting a message to view in the message list box (giving the list focus), and then using the up and down arrows on the keyboard to quickly navigate the list. This allows very fast viewing of the message lists.
Note: This is how the current release of the DDingo works. In the next release, it is slightly different, but better. In the next release the right arrow will move the current displayed message to the next message, and the left arrow will display the previous message (like the prev and next command buttons). The up and down arrows will be used to scroll the message content window. This will permit fast navigation through a list of messages and scrolling the message content without the need to use the mouse.

Hi Robert

As my use of DD increases I find myself dreading having to upgrade to the next release. I feel that way because of the amount of time it took me to upgrade last time when my usage was much less than it currently is.

My upgrade problem has to do with the initial downloading of messages. It has to do figuring out how many messages I want downloaded for each thread on each message board.

My problem would pretty much disappear if, on the initial download, I could tell Dingo download all messages newer than message number XXXX for each message board.

Please consider including this feature in the next release.

Regards - Emory

bug report

This is regarding the Azco (AZC) thread on Yahoo.

DD on my system shows message #916.

If I go to the Azco thread on Yahoo I see the latest message is message # 918.

So, I have the DD Azco thread open and I click on the "Fetch this thread" button and DD goes out and checks the Azco boards and finishes. However the message board I'm looking at doesn't change. In other words it remains at message number 916.
