pretty sure I'd seen the following in my Vast Library of Amazing Authorities and Useless Facts, but had to verify it. Here it is, from the Grand Robert Dictionnaire de la Langue Française:
goût [gu] n.m. ... II. 1. Aptitude à sentir, à discerner les beautés (d’une oeuvre, etc.) Avoir le goût délicat; Goût? Id? Non!
and here:
Dr. Id [eed] n.m. Un homme sans goût.
