You think NAS storage won't be commoditized like everything else. Margins for storage going forward will absolutely shrink into the future.

jman, every piece of hardware in an NTAP config is a commoditized product--everything except the software. That won't change.

I had the feeling NTAP was a Sun-expat shop, which is largely correct. Of their senior execs, most have either Sun, HP, or Auspex (3) in their backgrounds. Of the senior execs, only Mark Santora has CSCO experience, and that was due to his firm being acquired by CSCO.

Sun expats are thick in the ranks of R&D, including a "Sun Fellow" or two. Mark doesn't call many shots, so his CSCO experience (limited as it is) is of no import.

However, the Chm of the Bd of NTAP is Don Vallentine, who used to be Chm of the Bd of CSCO. And the CFO of CSCO is on the NTAP board. But Don has never "worked" for CSCO. He just owns much of the company as an early VC. (CSCO works for him.)

I have not listened to the cc yet, and its replay is not yet available. I will listen tomorrow AM early.

Next week will see some great product announcements, I believe, including, I hope, the new low end product.
