For example, is it possible for a market-maker or a specialist to route orders through an ECN (one option) and sell at the bid, as if it was a normal sell?. The intent, of course, would be to lower price and shake out shares.

Does it happen?

My best guess is it does but I can't prove it.

Think of MM's just like daytraders. They also trade for their own account and want to make money for their firm just like you and I want to trade and increase our investment capital.

And with the birth of hedge funds the short game has boomerang effects - especially on low float stocks.

If you want to ask specific MM questions there is a board on SI that you can ask.

Price ultimately rules - and stock prices keep going higher.

COMP Nov/Dec highs now TOAST and SPX is next.

I love this divergence.

10 year Bond Yield down to 3.64%

Dollar keeps going lower.

And the stock market internals as measured by pure
price action alone keep getting stronger.

Thank God the dollar and Bonds are keeping the Bears
at bay.

The longer they stay out of the game (or the more they short)
the higher the market
will continue to climb the wall of worry.

JT how is the site coming? Is that other baby growing along the path you suggested or have the targets changed?

It will be up in June.

I have been extremely busy on the research report
aspect of the site and hence not been posting much here.

the dollar is declining much too fast ...

Maybe, but its really working its magic for my industry (tech)... we are benefitting from the declining dollar... we want another 6-8 mos of low dollar and then a slow steady uptrend which is what we had in the early 90s. Enough mos to grab mkt share away from Nokia and some of the euro phone makers and enough time to bid and win some big chip equipment deals. I was looking for 85 on the euro so a ways down from here. I doubt we get that low actually but it would be great for business imo.

yep, the market keeps going higher for one reason, because it's not going lower <g>

feels like late 1999... thankfully back then I wasn't as "smart" about the markets as I am now.<gg>... I made a lot more money just following the price.

Still, with such bullish sentiment out there, ya gotta believe this rally is running on fumes

I mentioned on another thread that Investors Intelligence is out of whack
during major trend changes.

Rydex Numbers, Consensus Bullish poll and to a lesser extent, Market Vane
trump II and all of these sentiment trackers say we have
much higher to go.

Do not use II as your only sentiment litmus test.

Take your lumps and run.

Meanwhile, the Boyz sure have played COMP 1521 like a
Strativarius violin. I see it is out now. COMP 1522
and frozen like a deer in headlights for the moment.

Watch the double juke shake and bake unfold in the next
few days.

**************

The double juke shake and bake lasted exactly 2 days (Weds and Thurs)
from this last Tuesday post.

i'll stick with my lumps for now

S&P closed above the recent highs on lower volume which implies a false break to the upside. The S&P may try to get near the Dec 2 high before it's over.

NAZ also traded above the previous highs on lighter volume, typically a bearish sign... might get to 1560 level before it's over.
