Actually I didn't even know about the contest until Friday afternoon. I frequent SI about 5-10 times a day, but I have a shortcut, complete with username and password, that takes me right to my bookmarks. I don't see the home page much. When I found out about it I thought that it could be fun to try. So I loaded up a couple of messages, watched the counter tick up and clicked the publish message button. The rest is history. The counter was clicking up so fast the last couple hundred, that no-one could get it by timing alone. A total shot in the dark. It was clicking faster than a first day Internet IPO. :-) Ended up being nothing but luck...pure luck. My dual channel ISDN connection didn't hurt though. Maybe I can convince my wife to let me keep it now. <gr> Boy I sure wish that luck could carry over into my trading.
Even though I was trying to win, the post was real. The Dream Machine Thread is one of my favorites on SI, and besides, being a techie I'm pretty comfortable here. For computers and trading its the best. We have some some real honest gurus here, they've helped me tons.
