I basically agree that white collar criminals should be punished severely, but there's one part of the picture you're overlooking that helps account for the differential treatment.

While the convenience story robbery and the accounting fraud you describe are similar in that both involve the stealing of money, the first involves the threat or use of violence against persons in a way the second does not. The legal codes we have seem to weight this aspect very heavily, and I think that rather than simple discrimination is why the punishments are so different. The lawyers among us (and there are probably all too many<g>) could probably enlighten us on these and related issues, but this thread might not be the appropriate venue for such discussions...

That's a terrific site provided by a member at the Fool. For me, the best features are:

1) It provides links to specific parts of the SEC filings. No more need to wade through a massive 10K looking for one section disclosing financial statements, legal proceedings or the like.

2) The financial data can be viewed as text or as an Excel spreadsheet. The files can be viewed using the server or using your hard disk.

3) Possibly the best feature: In the example I tried, the software loads key financial data (including data from cash flow statements) for the previous 24 SEC filings. The financial trends are very easy to spot. No more loading four financial statements to compare numbers. And if you do want to look at the financial statement, simply click on the number you're looking at and the financial statement automatically appears in text form with the number you clicked appearing in a bold font so it stands out. (Example: If you're identifying trends in the revenue but want to look at the income statement of a particular filing, click on the revenue for that filing and the entire income statement appears.)

Now that Verizon has lit their 3G network in the US, it is nice to look at some lovely color 3G phones availible now in Korea and comming soon to the US

In Korea, BREW apps ate increasing monthly revnue by $2 to $3 per user. Indications at the QCOM neeting suggestet that PCS may change their mind and adopt BREW when the lite their US 3G network soon

Some charts of interest

Mind saying why they are of interest, what about them is interesting, and especially what, if anything, this has to do with G&K and LTB&H?

fwiw

Not much without some context.

Any belief that this post might have been a serious contribution to the thread is certainly lessened by seeing the number of other threads you have also posted it to.

Nanotechnology is certainly interesting pre-chasm technology with a lot of exciting hype ... I don't suppose you have a post-chasm company to propose with gorilla characteristics do you?
