Rarebird,
I think Clinton needs to understand that you just can't do what ever you want no matter what office you hold, but the real danger is that anytime a country allows anything like to happen with impunity it isn't long before you have no country. Check out the history of all of the kingdoms of the world, without laws they cease to exist. If we as a nation set by and allow this sort of thing to happen without caring it won't be long before we also will not have a country.
We are all guilty of sin, but we all don't flaunt it in the eyes of the country as if what we did was nothing. I would like to believe most of us repent for our sin.

<<<the Republicans started this and turning around and placing all the blame on Clinton's head>>>

No clinton started this by putting monica there.

<<<<Livingston took it one step further by resigning and then trying to pass himself off as a good example.>>>

Wrong again. Livingston did what he should have done even though the circumstances were different. He didn't lie under oath..but he did not engage in unacceptable behavior. I hope, young lady, very young lady, that your husband treats you with the same respect that these two bums have treated their wives with. Maybe then you will have a better understanding of what taking a vow or an oath means.

I pity the folks on this thread who have been misguided into believing that:

A. This conduct is ok and normal
B. That this matter is all about sex.

Rose,
Your have the right to your opinion and I have the right to mine as we stand today, but for how long, you simply can't allow any in power democrat or republican or any other to do whatever they want, because if you do they will have no stopping point. And as I said in my first post I don't know you and you don't know me and still because of this we are here being sarcastic with each other and that is not right.
I wish you all of the best.

I'm sorry. I don't mean that....I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I like the rest of you can become emotional about this topic.

If the President can be censured and held liable for crimes
after he leaves office, we are ALL dupes. The President is
being impeached for COVERING up what he has done. Give him
two more years to cover up what he has done and he will have
done nothing! We effectively censured him about Jennifer
Flowers, his draft record, his handling of the transition in
office, use of FBI files, campaign finance, Sudan, Bosnia,
government shutdown's, character 'assassinations' of opponents (long
before sex gate ), socializing medicine, social security reform,
etc. Every time you try to bring honesty to the debate, he obsucates
and 'word smiths' the topic to obscure propaganda.

Clintonizing the debate is destructive and reducing the public
discourse to 'mean spirited', 'fanatical', 'left wing' prefixes to
all topics. He is not bringing the country together, he is leading
us all to the 'brink' and he is willing to 'slaughter' the country's
conscience to save the ego of his own power. Hey... using 'Clinton
speak' is kinda of fun. I apologize in advance for lowering myself
to his level.

ROLFMAO all you want, Street, but Clinton's New Democrats took over the Party leadership on an explicitly "anti-liberal" program. Somewhere or other I posted specific references to their program material. No time to look for them now (it's Christmas week, for pete's sake), but if you are interested I should be happy to provide them later. (Check out Z-Net.)

Some dyed-in-the-wool left liberals consider Clinton a Republocrat. Remember Republican complaints about his allegedly "stealing" their program? These folks would agree.

Martenson,
It will take an impeachment to remove him but, if he had any thoughts for this country he would have resigned long ago.

"if he had any thoughts for this country he would have resigned long ago" I respectfully disagree that the President does not have
(sic: good) thoughts for his country. I DO agree he should have
resigned long ago. I also believe his life IS dedicated to the
political process which he is a full partner in. Without impeachment,
he will not leave. What ever happens, he won't get me down, he won't
destroy my faith in this country or process, and I WILL out last
his short sited ethical lapses. It's a challenge, but I love a challenge...don't you?

Your mention of FBI files is right on.
1. Release of information during Presidential race on the fine points of Dole's marriage breakup years before.
2. Release of Gingrich info when he became Speaker of the House.
3. Release of Hyde info right at exact time.
4. Release of Livingsston info at the time it came out.

Each time it was said that the source was a disgruntled, loyal democrat. How come the White House knew about each of these stories?
More likely, the data from raw FBI files leaked to well placed reporters and individuals to use as if they discovered them.
How come Hustler magazine is using the same private investigator company that the White House is using?
Too many coincidences. Then the nerve of the President to call for an end to all of this. He has been causeing it! Anyone associated with him eventually gets dragged through the mud.
Sleeze breeds sleeze! His greatest supporter now is Hustler magazine. The thing that helped buy him time was our US military that he "loathes". Gad I can't believe all this.

Martenson,
That is the one good thing we have to look forward to, he has just a short time left in office, that is unless he get's away with this and then he just might talk the people into to allowing him a third term, then a forth term etc.etc. It seems many of the American people have no morals left.
