That may be so except that in this case there are several "news letter " writers recommending the stock and they claim buying it them selves. Most noteably " Kaiser's Bottom Fishing Report. Although they don't have as much influence since Bre-X, it is possible that they could start some momentum and the stock could park itself at say $.50 to $.75 before X-Mas.
The mining investment community is aching for a winner to get the ball rolling and it will have to be in Platinum.
Note North American Palladium, it was so poorly managed it is struggling with over $100 000 000 in debt its grade is declining , its unsuccessfully , so far , trying to raise capital to expand ; and yet its share price has gone from $.85 to over $4.00 in the last few months. That is what the hint of platinum can do.
I would also point out that there aren't that many shares available for trading and when they begin to move they will move quickly. Sorry , I have a bit of the tech. analyst in me. :)

I have been thinking lately how I watched a small company in Montana a few years ago work a property that nobody was to interested in. I lost track of it for a while and when I looked back it was Stillwater Mining. I've kicked myself many times since. I may be wrong but I couldn't resist buying somemore today. Somebody talk me out of doing this again. :-)

I am just posting to keep this site going. It is becoming more apparent with the slide (again) in gold prices, there are very few mineral exploration plays in the world that have a chance to cause a stir. I believe Altoro is one of the few.
Even with very strong PT+PD demand and prices I would argue that Altoro is one of the few companies that has some chance of pulling off some drill results this year. There are no other explorers to my knowledge that have grades and widths on a prospect that compare with these.
I think in a month or so there will be so much action on this board I'll be pushed right out. Till then I'll just keep trying to drum up some interest.

Wayne,

You are not alone. I've been watching. The volumes have been low for the last few days on all junior mining stocks. I have seen several companies release good news and have no trades on the day. Everyone is looking at the NASDAQ. Certainly the best time to load up on good mining stocks. IMO, the bottom is definately near because there are very few people interested in metals or mining stocks. Pt and Pd have been very strong this year and that should continue into next year. ATG is interesting. When is the drilling being done?

The drilling started about 3 weeks ago. They were going to drill shallow holes at first so I don't think it should take too long to get some results. The majority of shares are owned by insiders or institutions with only 12% trading so if any news does come out they should rise very fast. This is really the only mining play I know of in precious metals right now worth following.

We'll probably see the results in January some time. I like the project and the management on this one. The stock is very tight at 0.30- most everything else has been going down. I'll be picking some up in the very near future.

I see today its bid .28 but there is very little volume .
I can never understand why people let their stock go cheap so close to news . I guess if you need the money for something else the stocks have to go.

I think everyone that used to be interested in mining is too busy looking at the ridiculous gains in the tech stocks. The money will come back to mining sometime. For now, it is the best time to buy into the mining stocks- they are all definitely at an all time low.

All the PGE metals were up today and few took notice. I expect them to do very well next year. If that's the case then it is only a matter of time before ATG does well, as long as they come up with the goods <g>.

You're right about the lackluster mining market but one hot hole by Altoro could change all that.I think over the long haul there isn't much downside left. They have a huge area to explore and another interesting property in South America. So we might bob up and down for a while. The best thing to do is stay put.

Bruce, I've tried to contact Altoro on their web site in the past few days but got no reply. Yesterday I phoned them and they said they were updating their site to a different server. So I asked when they expected things to happen.
They said drilling will be finished before X-MAS and they expect the first assay results in the" very first part of January." I forgot to ask if they would release everything at once.
Anyway if there was ever a time to top up shares , next week will be it.
