Right-click on the desktop, select Screen Resolution, there should be a graphical representation of your multi-monitor setup, drag either monitor to its proper position and hit the Apply button.

Yes, I have done that a duzzen times... and then when I turn the pc off and re start it's back to square one and set it all up all over again, icons where I want them, laptop screen and 2nd monitor where I want them and as long as I dont turn the thing off it's fine, but when I turn it off...it's all scrambled again...

This is a HP laptop with Vista....and it has worked fine for 3 or so yrs so far...except for now...
My other pc is a desktop not running vista, not 7... the one before both of those and my halfhimers is kicking in cause I cant remember the name of it....well anyway, when that pc shuts off it goes through a bunch of things on the screen telling you what it's doing and one of them is SAVING SETTINGS.... and then the pc shuts off... well this vista laptop NEVER displays a "SAVING SETTINGS" message... wonder why...

Thanks for the help...maybe duct tape is the solution...

Hal

Look no further: While supplies last, Best Buy has the HP 2000-416dx 15.6-inch laptop for $299.99 shipped (not including sales tax). Surprisingly, it's new, not refurbished.

Not to gush, but that is just an amazing price. Granted, the HP won't win any speed awards (or, for that matter, design awards), but it covers all the computing bases well enough.

To wit: it comes with a dual-core AMD E-300 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive. The 15.6-inch screen has a native resolution of 1,366 by 768 pixels--a bit low, perhaps, but certainly sufficient for everyday stuff.

The system also comes with three USB ports, a DVD burner, Bluetooth, a media reader, a Webcam, and Windows 7 Home Premium. In other words, all the usual accoutrements.

Looks like it doesn't come with MS Office, which is $119 - but still, a whammer deal.

My $999.00 dollar notebook only came with a trial version of Office 2010. Even when you go to sites and custom build your machine, they still make you pay extra for Office.
