I mentioned my problem with my computer not starting from the computer itself but from my power source.
I am on my other computer.
I thought I shut down my computer around 11 AM,but when I just came now at around 8:30 PM,my com puter was on,and it said the computer was in use,and I would need a password to get on.
I just shut it down, and am afraid to turn it on.
Can I assume my computer has been hijacked?

Not every computer glitch is malware or hacked, too many people are quick to blame that. It could be a software issue or a hardware one.
One good place to post help questions, is here, but you need to give detailed information in your questions:

I was advertising an apartment for rent on Craigslist, and I might have replied to someone who was able to get into my computer.
Is this possible?
Thanks for your help.

Anything is possible, but I think far too many people think computer bugs and hardware issues are caused by hackers, which is not the case.
Malware is real, but you can't blame every glitch on them, unless you are visiting porn sites, illegal downloading sites, etc, then you are at high risk of malware.

The only thing I have done lately is reply to someone's email to me about an apartment from Craigslist.
I hope this was not a hijacking.
Thanks again.

I was told the same thing by my Optimum Online support from Cablevision,so I opened up my computer, and I am downloading Eset Anti-Virus which I paid for and did not download.Hopefully it will tell me if I have any virus on my computer.
The computer just asked me to update my Bios.
How do I do that, after I have downloaded Eset?
TIA,
Manny

Don't worry about the BIOS for now just install the antivirus software and scan. Most likely nothing will come up.

The Eset scan was clean,so hopefully I can get something done tomorrow that has nothing to do with the computer.
Thanks for all your help.

Now go to Malwarebytes.org and download and install and run the full scan with Malwarebytes and you can be pretty sure you're clean.

"Not every computer glitch is malware or hacked, too many people are quick to blame that. It could be a software issue or a hardware one"
and THATS why I had a Dell for 4 days
Had trouble configuring it; called Dell repeatedly; finally when the help desk told me that Fidelity investments gave me a virus...was the final straw
I returned it, but altho they charged me within a day...it took over 5 months to get my refund
Dell? NEVA AGIN
