Revenge of the lug nut: Kitsap County man gets hurt when he blasts car wheel with shotgun
The Associated Press

SOUTHWORTH, Kitsap County — A man trying to loosen a stubborn lug nut blasted the wheel with a 12-gauge shotgun, injuring himself badly in both legs, Kitsap County sheriff's deputies said.

The 66-year-old man had been repairing a Lincoln Continental for two weeks at his home northwest of Southworth and east of Port Orchard and had gotten all but one of the lug nuts off the right rear wheel before getting frustrated Saturday afternoon, Deputy Scott Wilson said.

"He's bound and determined to get that lug nut off," Wilson said.

From about arm's length, the man fired the shotgun at the wheel and was "peppered" in both legs with shot and other debris, with some injuries as high on his body as his chin, according to a sheriff's office report.

"Nobody else was there and he wasn't intoxicated," Wilson said.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue personnel treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with injuries Wilson described as "severe but not life-threatening."

"Revenge of the lug nut..."

Wonder if it was on the Left side of the car.

Man the gene pool lost on that escapade!

It reminds me of the time I shot at a frozen tree with a .44 Special shell in my .44 Magnum. The slug bounced back and hit me in the foot. There was little energy left in it after doing the 180 degree change in direction.

Heh-heh. Sounds like the old boy won't be needing his Viagra from now on.

Did the same thing with a .22lr in the garage once shooting at a 2x6, darn thing came right at me and brushed my right ear. Never found the bullet. :-)

I reload, and test fire rounds at a stump about 20 feet outside my front door. It has accumulated a LOT of lead like that. Once, I shot a .357 at the stump, and a bullet came arcing back at me. I caught it, and it was a .44. Maybe I need to use another stump? <GGG>

I have dial-up, and videos take a couple hours to load. What happens with the .50?

Bullet comes right back at him, hits about 25' short of him and one hops and tears his muffs off his head. The familiar scream of a ricochet.
