Allen, i thought the same about JGlad when i read
his post: he's definitely short!
One of the rules for posting on this thread could be: unless
you can substantiate your claims then there's
ABSOLUTELY no validity to the claims you make.

>>Do you have any evidence that this was true for the third quarter or will be true for the fourth quarter?<<
Yes. In the first interview of the new CEO on CNBC, it was stated point blank that OEM Zip drives were being sold at a loss.

Ahh, yes... One more model of computer that includes a Zip drive sold at a loss by Iomega.

I can't believe anybody would short a $9 stock when prices have seemingly stablized in its industry; its main competitor is out; and Christmas is on the way!
I agree with your price predictions.
Good luck, may the shorts be squeezed.

There will be no "Short Squeeze" of this stock. The reason?
270 Million shares outstanding.
That's 270 MILLION.
The last time IOMG had a short squeeze, only 70 million shares were outstanding.

<<HUGE UPS CAN BE FOLLOWED BY HUGE DOWNS>>
And huge downs can be followed by huge ups.
Iomega is a household name, Imation isn't.
SYQT had a better product, I admit, but it's a name game, and "Zip" will prevail.

Hello, do you even know sh#t?? Shares outstanding is B.S. What counts is the floated shares.
While the company has more shares on the float due to the split, the stock is also 1/2 the price.
Your logic is flawed. If IOM had done several secondaries, then yeah, it would take alot of shorters.
BUT, given the turnover in this stock and the huge blocks going through, a short squeeze is probable if not inevitable.

Thomas, individual investors will have little if any impact on the stock price of Iomega. This is a BIG Board stock not the bb stocks you are used to. The shares bid and asked are viewable to the public so anyone who thinks they can manipulate the price for profit is full of it. Any attempt to do so will pop up on the radar screens and get an opposite reaction. That's what happened Friday when it dropped to 8.
Good luck with your short;}

The famous IOMG Short Squeeze of past years was based on wild hopes that the Zip would replace the floppy drive. We now know that this strategy is a failure, one that was publicly acknowledged by the new Management team itself.
During the CNBC interview with Sierk and the new CEO, the question was asked as to whether or not the Zip would replace the floppy. The answer was not "Yes." The answer was more along the lines of "What the customer wants." This is a strong signal that Iomega Management realizes that their pipe dream (one that they allowed to run rampant throughout their investors) is just that. A dream. And the nightmare of loss after quarterly loss is the reality.
Now, Iomega and its investors have to deal with falling retail Zip sales, and selling OEM Zips at a loss. How long can Iomega keep doing this? We'll see. Iomega is following Syquest itself right down the same path.
