Or that could be a short covering buy in at the close.

Any idea what they get per item.

Pennies per unit is my understanding. This is one of the reasons why WIND has a big problem making any money. They sell their software development platforms for a decent buck and then their licensing revenue (per unit) is almost negligible.

Look at the list in the link you submitted. Combined, millions of these products are sold but only a tiny fraction of the end unit price finds it's way back to WIND.

In my opinion one of the major problems with WIND is that while their sales have fallen, their expenses haven't dropped proportionally. In the last earnings report, sales for the 9months had dropped 32% from the previous year while marketing, R+D and SGA only fell 18%. Not good, especially since they were already losing money in the previous year. They waited too long to restructure and, due to this costly error, they have been playing the very tough game of catch up ever since.

Michael, I couldn't agree more.

The financials look horrible with SG&A being disproportionately high.

If WIND is into multiple consumer devices selling at reasonably high volume
there should be a corresponding increase in total revenues which is suspiciously
lacking at this stage. Management hasn't articulated a clear plan to profitability
and isn't nibling even as the stock craters. That seems very suspicious to me.

I'm still perplexed, both regarding the run
and the non chest thumping of PR re: the camera.
The camera deal had been disclosed several days
prior to the run - yet no increase in stock
price at that point in time. I guess the main
question I've got is that there was no real increase
in vol., yet, the stock goes up. This,
(in my small mind) does not point to short covering,
(although I don't know what size the blocks of shares
were). There was a sell-off today which is another
inconsistency for the run.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge could explain.

My nose says something is happening behind the scenes.

To Aus., Church and Happel.
1st, it's nice to know that there are still
some out the that follow WIND (even the lurker 8-) ).
Peter, you may have hit in on the head. HUGE
SPIKE up in last 15 minutes of trading on the
15th. Chart shows a steady increase in price
on the 14th. IMHO, something is still going on.

Perhaps I'm off-base here, as the argument was geared more to Cisco than to Sun and to Unix, but whatever happened to WINDtel?......

Earlier this month, Goldman, Sachs issued a lengthy report titled, "Fear the Penguin," a reference to the Linux mascot. "Linux-on-Intel appears likely to emerge as the dominant platform in corporate data centers," the report predicted.

Pardon me, but, I don't subscribe to anything.
However, thank you for your good intentions.

There have been a lot of positive earnings lately based on a revival of the telecoms (Alcatel, TXN, NOK, QCOM). Anybody have an overview of what's going on and predictions for the year? I expect that WIND is still highly leveraged to that industry.
