<< Again, however, does KIDE benefit from this directly or not? >>

Definitely. KIDE gets a cut of all non-Nintendo Pokemon merchandise sold outside of Asia. So: Toys, yes, gameboys no. But Pokemon looks like it really has merchandising legs.

Let's hope so. Know where I can get a queen size set of Pokemon bed sheets? I'd like a pair of matching pajamas, matching drapes.... MJS

I may have spoken too soon on the virtual pet. Looks like Nintendo makes that. Will KIDE benefit from that? Maybe not. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

New high today on big volume (for this stock). I think this baby's still undiscovered though.

True, Nintendo makes the Pikachu pet. But booming sales of the Pikachu electronic pet will clearly help promote merchandise revenues -- as will Nintendo advertising for the Game Boy and Zelda video game for their respective licensed merchandise. As they say, we've got marketing synergy working here.
I'm another fan who can't wait for those Pokemon pajamas!

Yep this company is very undiscovered IMHO trading 12 times earnings right now and we have some powerhouse revenues that should be coming in from POKEMAN and ZELDA over the next few months plus some of the other deals that where just announced lots of upside to this stock over next 3 to 6 months and beyond :) IMHO

No one here, I guess is smart enough to know how to
calculate what to expect for 4th quarter earnings.

"We expect record sales for 1998 with earnings to exceed $0.70 cents per share,"

"Net income for the nine month period was $799,874 or $0.22 cents per share on a fully diluted basis"

So they are planning on making atleast 0.70 cents in 12 months
and they have already made a NET of $800,000 or 0.22/share in 9 months.

So the fourth quarter needs to make enough NET that they
make 0.70/share for the year. What would the 4th quarter NET INCOME
have to be, and earnings/share for the quarter, to achieve this conservative 0.70/share for the '98 year?

Any MBA types following this stock?

If the number of shares stays constant, then the answer is easy: We need at least 48 cents/share EPS in Q4 and $800,000 x 48/22 = $1,750,000 in total net income for Q4. Now, fully diluted shares keep going up as options vest, so these figures need to be adjusted up a bit. But that's basically it.

Please remember, the CEO said EXCEED $.70 for 1998. And Al Kahn has been raising his 1998 EPS estimate every quarter so it's a good bet they'll beat $.70 by quite a bit. My own feeling is that Jesse (The Governor) Ventura's win is goosing WCW revenues and $1 a share for 1998 is possible, unless management decides to boost their film cost write-offs.

Saw the Pokemon TV cartoon show today. First, you pronounce it "po-key-mon" or "po-kay-mon" (both were used) with equal accents on all syllables (rhymes with "OK man" in Jamaican). Second, the theme song is extraordinarily catchy--cool little pop hit sound to get the youngsters addicted. Third, the little monsters are pretty cute. Fourth, the plot seemed rather stupid, even for kids. Fifth, 4Kids was listed as producer, and Summit was displayed prominently at the end.

Ads were shown for the Nintendo Pikachu virtual pet (great ad) and WCW/Tiger toys (yay, money for KIDE), along with other stuff (boo).

Anyone ever see Beast Wars? (This was on right afterwards). Couldn't believe the great graphics (plot also stupid).
