Nokia will provide the most advanced 3rd Generation Mobile Network Solutions to Japan Telecom

(March 3, 2000) - Japan Telecom has chosen Nokia as a partner for its 3rd Generation mobile network. This breakthrough agreement sees Nokia moving into the Japanese Mobile Internet infrastructure market; the world's frontrunner market for next generation mobile communications.

As a global leader in the development of WCDMA 3rd Generation technology, Nokia will deliver its highly competitive radio access network solutions for the age of Mobile Internet, including base stations, to Japan Telecom.

Mr. Jorma Ollila, Chairman and CEO of Nokia, who is currently visiting Japan, said: "This is an important breakthrough for Nokia in Japan, with one of the true pioneers in 3rd Generation mobile communications. We are pleased to announce this co-operation with Japan Telecom, and it is a significant milestone in the development of 3rd Generation in the world today. It takes us even further towards Nokia's vision of putting the Internet in every pocket in the advanced Japanese market."

"This partnership is yet further proof of the competitiveness of Nokia's WCDMA network solutions, and underlines the importance of open standards and interfaces across the industry - which are essential for today's multivendor networks." continued Mr. Ollila.

Mr. Sakata, Chairman, Japan Telecom said: "We chose Nokia due to their proven track record in the supply of innovative mobile networks. We are looking forward to contribute to the building of a global next generation network, together with our international partners and we intend to provide seamlessly integrated network services, especially high-speed multimedia and Mobile Internet services. In order to achieve this aim our target is to co-operate with world-class companies such as Nokia."

"All new cars to have IP address at 2005"

*Rereading some Cebit news
* If I remember .., Nokia ceo Jorma Ollila was the new boar member of Ford Motor Company...)
* In LHSP thread has been discussed about Ford motors and all of the new gimmicgs activated by voice to add valu for a new models.)

....
Finnish telecom equipment maker Nokia forecast that all new cars would by the end of 2005 have at least one Internet address and said it aimed to be the No. 1 supplier of such equipment.

It said in a statement it would launch its first wireless vehicle communications equipment--called the telematics system--in the second half of this year, and second-generation equipment would be launched in late 2001.

Lehman Brothers also predicted that the number of data-ready cell phone handsets would grow from more than 423 million this year to 553 million in 2001, reiterating its positive ratings on Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Qualcomm, Comverse Technology, and Nortel Networks.

"We believe that Nokia, Ericsson, and Motorola, as well as Asian vendors such as Samsung and Panasonic are all well positioned to exploit this burgeoning market," the report said. "In addition, exponential growth in wireless data should support dynamic growth for a new wave of software platforms, applications, IP gateways, location-based services and wireless modems."

Reuters contributed to this report.

Folks:
Its about time for everybody to play with this little puppy. PSIOF is a gem ready to explode. I would recommend this stock for at least six reasons:
1. It will split 5 for 1 in May (4 for 1 bonus).
2. It will soon (next month) be listed on FTE100.
3. It will be listed in Nasdaq.
4. It will soon spin off its Symbian component.
5. It is one of the hottest technology stocks in UK (will soon reach the same level as ARMHY).
6. Symbian will soon be in every hand-held devices (it is currently number three after Palm and Windows CE).

It is all about timing and the time is now. Please do your own DD before you purchase the stock. Since it is virtually unknown and illiquid, you may not want to buy this stock for daytrading purposes. It is a long term investment. You could not trade in Schwab's Velocity or Web, but this morning I bought the stock at $117 from DLJ. I hope these links will help you to do your DD:

But look Arm man, Psion's Epoc is ported in Arm but so are many other RTOS's and mobile linux.

Psion has mobile internet, but Arm got the same piece of cake and 2-3 other cakes added: GPS, car, security, and other automation, eduntainment boxes, MP3 players...modems,..you name it..

Summa summarum: Coolio - Msft hackers don't allowed here.

Microsoft goes on a bug hunt

Tue, 29 Feb 2000 11:44:39 GMT
David Raikow, ZD US
In the past week, Microsoft security teams have found themselves facing a sudden flurry of problems
Since 16 February -- the day before it officially launched Windows 2000 -- Microsoft has issued five separate official security bulletins, with independent analysts delivering several more. To top it off, antivirus vendors last week announced the discovery of the first confirmed Windows-based Denial of Service (DoS) tool.
Perhaps the most dangerous of these issues, which was first announced by veteran bug-spotter Juan Cuartago, may present a threat to Internet Explorer (IE) and Outlook users. The problem lies in an ActiveX control called MS Active Setup, which can automatically install Microsoft-authenticated code onto a Windows-based machine. The install process can be triggered without any warning simply by visiting a Web page or viewing an email containing the code.

****However, according to the Microsoft Security Response Team, this automatic installation is a feature, rather than a bug.***** (got better joke anyone!)
